The group was scheduled to perform Friday night at the Kleinhans Music Hall with the Buffalo Philharmonic. Mellett grew up near Washington, D.C., and moved to New Jersey to study at William Paterson University, according to his MySpace profile. After graduating he moved to New York and earned a master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music in 1998. Mellett, 33, lived in East Brunswick, N.J., with his wife, singer Jeanie Bryson, according to the Star-Ledger of Newark. ___ Gerry Niewood Gerry Niewood was a childhood friend of trumpeter Chuck Mangione and had been making music with him since the two were children. He lived in Glen Ridge, N.J., and played saxophone, clarinet and flute for some of the biggest names in pop music, according to his MySpace profile. He was flying to Buffalo for a performance with Mangione's band. Niewood once said he learned jazz improvisation on his own. "I listened to jazz records and mentally transcribed them. Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Stitt, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane," he told City Newspaper, a Rochester, N.Y., weekly in 2006. In addition to Mangione, Niewood backed artists as diverse as Peggy Lee, Simon and Garfunkel, Judy Collins, Frank Sinatra and Sinead O'Connor, among others. He also played on the soundtracks of movies including "A Bronx Tale," ''When Harry Met Sally" and "King of Comedy." **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps! Ooh - I almost gotta agree with that (sorry, Jeremy)..."almost" only because pretty much EVERYTHING Journey did was annoying to me and I DO enjoy so much of Ray's output (although I'm not sure if I even have any Kinks rekkids in the ol' vinyl collection -- just never focused in on any particular collection). ...But, really -- "Come Dancing" is one of those faux-popular, ultra-simple crappy songs by artists I generally like (Todd's "Bang on the Drum" also immediately comes to mind) that I cannot reach for the radio dial fast enough to banish away from my ears... Say what you will, but I want my TV > series to be humanistic and ultimately optimistic. The last few episodes > were the exact opposite of that. For me, the last few episodes were among the best in the series. Why? Because I am the exact opposite. The show is about the near-destruction of the human race. I *want* it to be dark. That's how I like those things -- for instance, I love zombie movies were everyone dies at the end. In fact, I'd be insanely happy if the series ended with the revelation that there were NO HUMANS left at all, and the Twelve Colonies were simply super-advanced Cylons who forgot they were "synthetic" and (re)created "new" Cylons, and so began the cycle anew. Or, for that matter -- I'd be perfectly happy if the Cylons actually wiped out every human alive, and Admiral Adama went down with the ship. But then again, I'm a Lovecraft fan. - --Quail +---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ "The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents." -- H.P. I couldn't disagree more. "Come Dancing" is, to me, a very fun and moving song, with a very good video attached to it, and it still surprises me that it became a big US hit. I just don't see what's not charming and sweet and very essentially Ray about it. I'm filing this away under "things I would have never suspected were I not on the internet"... Sweeney Also disagree, though not as strongly. I think Bowie's is a legit version, and it probably made Iggy more money than anything in his career, at least up until "Lust for Life" ended up in Carnival commercials, and fundingi the continued eneavors and general well-being of Mr. Osterberg makes it worthwhile to me. Is it just the fact that you heard Bowie's a lot on the radio? later, Miles, who had his wife perform an emergency TiVo-deleteathon while he was at work last night so it had space to record BSG (watched as soon as I got home from work) and DOLLHOUSE (haven't watched yet) - -- now with blogspot retsin! http://readingpronunciation.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Feb 2009 14:45:12 -0500 (EST) From: Jill Brand Subject: hah It was written: "I expect the reason I haven't before now is that "Come Dancing" is way more annoying than anything Journey has ever recorded." While Audities folks certainly love their obscurities, obscurity in itself doesn't mean the music isn't worthy.
