The album continues to shift styles here and there, and he's using a few different instruments in ways he hasn't for a while (horns, strings). The Venus 3 sounds like a real band, very comfortable with one another & with Robyn. No further Andy Partridge co-writes (for those keeping track) but "Sixteen Years" is co-written with some guy named "Peter Buck" (does anyone know who that is?)... I don't know how it will place ultimately, but there was a while there in the early 2000s when his stuff sounded sort of tentative - he sounds like this is what he's wanting to do now. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 4 Feb 2009 23:53:51 +0000 (UTC) From: michaeljbachman@comcast.net Subject: Re: Good morning, Goodnight Oslo! I remember the first time I met them, it was a really warm afternoon in Mesa, AZ and the band were just finished with sound check. I had hoped to run into them and get a couple of albums signed rather than carry crap around at the show and hang out afterward. Lux and Ivy were more than glad to sign vinyl and hang out, but the heat was wilting them, so they invited me onto the tour bus, chatted, showed me some items they had found in their thrift store shopping during the tour, and generally just impressed me with their kindness. Really sweet people. They had apparently been together with each other since 1972, which is pretty freaking amazing considering the sort of work they did.
