What I am having a hard time believing is that they can survive for an extended period out of the water. Did I miss the Feg Squid 101 lecture about that? Jeanne p.s. In an attempt to answer this question myself, I ended up here: http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Squid, which wasn't a lot of help. Everyone knows Nirvana and Zeppelin; bands that to us went hand in hand with Nirvana have sunk into much greater obscurity. Ah, indeed. My mistake. Referring to it incorrectly will no doubt only enrage it further. Which brings me back to: if that thing can traipse about on land at will, we are all in trouble. Should I return to using iTunes regularly (previously on this channel: why I don't, except at work), one nice feature for the Genius playlist-generating thing would be the ability to say "only one song per same artist" or the like - basically, integrate it with the features of Smart Playlists. (Maybe it has in recent updates: I haven't checked.) Also: it's probably a function of the size of my 'puter vs. the size of my external music library, but when I tried to use it, it was one of the main things that froze the 'puter: it was trying to catalog 300+GB of stuff, and it jjust choked... "In Bloom" just came out in shuffle play the other day - I haven't listened to _Nevermind_ forever (since it became unnecessary to do so sometime in the mid-nineties, since a song from it was playing nearly everywhere you went for a while...) - even though some of the things about mid-nineties music that irk are still present (the ever-present, too-high-in-the-mix, compressed distorted rhythm guitar), that band wrote some good songs, yup. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jan 2009 22:10:38 +0000 From: michaeljbachman@comcast.net Subject: Re: Rockin' like it's 1993 - -------------- Original message -------------- From: 2fs > On 1/10/09, Tom Clark wrote: > > I woke up this morning with Nirvana's "On A Plain" swimming around in my > > head, so I decided to ask iTunes to create a genius playlist based on it. > > Turns out it was mighty entertaining. I found the mid 90's starting in 1995 to be a semi-wasteland music wise aside from a good indie album or alt country release here and there, as my favorite shoegazer bands were in deep hibernation or had broken up. Some of the Blur albums were okay though, but I never did buy a single Oasis cd.
