I watched it. It was OK, it gave me a few laughs, but didn't really do much for me. Of course it's the only episode I've ever seen, so I guess some layers of meaning may have escaped me and I'm clearly not as invested in the characters as I otherwise might be. But even considering that it did not seem like something I'd want to watch on a regular basis. The "Charlie" character has this obnoxious voice that really grates on me. I guess that's the point, but still ... Well, I'm glad you got a few laughs. Strangely, I really like the Charlie character. BTW the 3 main young fellers (Charlie, Dennis and Mac) are the writers for the show too. It is an odd show and I can't really figure out why I like it so much, except that it does getting me laughing! Still nothing like Arrested Development- but there will never be anything quite like AD. I got through Californication. Perhaps it doesn't have as much rewatch value as some others of my favorite series (I'll have to see about that), but it's clever, funny, sexy and humanistic. I'm really curious what season 3 will be like. What's gonna happen with Cokey Smurf and her husband? And I'd love to have a daughter like Becca! (Although her singing voice didn't impress me much) Now this I'll have to check out. I didn't realize Californication was a comedy. - -Nuppy ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Jan 2009 21:34:32 -0800 From: Rex Subject: Re: Out on the street for a living: unheard original versions On Mon, Jan 5, 2009 at 6:20 PM, Jeremy Osner wrote: > OK, so how about cover versions you have played without having heard > the original? But I did look up the original pretty quickly-- actually, I think he found the video-- which is priceless-- for us on YouTube during a break in rehearsal. Yeah, being in a garage band has changed a little bit since 1988. The guitars are the same, though. I shudder to think how my bandmates would answer this question, because god knows what I'm likely to start playing at any given time, whether they will recognize it, and moreover whether or not it's recognizeable to begin with. - -Rex ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Jan 2009 09:14:22 -0500 (EST) From: djini@voicenet.com Subject: Re: fegmaniax-digest V17 #3 Tom Clark wrote: > On Jan 3, 2009, at 10:39 AM, djini@voicenet.com wrote: > >> Happy 2009 everybody!
