There are radio stations that play nothing but for the full two weeks of Carnival. Anyway, let me know if you really do need more for your list. I'd also be interested in what the surrounding neighborhood is like if anyone is familiar with the area. I've got mezzanine tickets about 4 rows back in the center. maybe Woj would be kind enough to enlighten me as to what he uses for a rig and the typical settings he uses (i.e. external mic?, bass rolloff?, etc.). I'd love to be able to get a recording as lifelike and pristine as the show he recorded at the Bottom Line five years ago, but I think that will be a near impossibility from the mezzanine. I certainly enjoyed the discussion about that show recently. It warms my heart to think my voice will live in fegdom forever on archive.org as "the guy who had a pick for Robyn." I like the > ex-post-facto ones ("pre-punk"), Actually that's not so unusual. Many genre or period terms are coined much later. E.g. the baroque period certainly wasn't called that at the time (it's a derogatory term). That being said, "pre-punk" is at the very least a vague term. Is it supposed to mean *all* music prior to punk music or is it a synonym for the more common "proto-punk"? So what kind of music had that tag been applied to? - -- Sebastian Hagedorn Am alten Stellwerk 22, 50733 Kvln, Germany http://www.uni-koeln.de/~a0620/ "Being just contaminates the void" - Robyn Hitchcock ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Nov 2008 06:47:55 -0500 From: "Jeremy Osner" Subject: REAP Miriam Makeba has passed away: http://www.mtv.co.uk/channel/mtvuk/news/459865-mandela-mourns-miriam-makeba But listen! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCc61z9IFu4 J - -- If we do not say all words, however absurd, we will never say the essential words. -- Josi Saramago http://www.readin.com/blog/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Nov 2008 06:58:39 -0500 From: "Stewart C. Leads, kind of; they're still a going concern, though it's really only E in the band now. There's a documentary about it: And E wrote a book! So it at least makes sense...but I have a bug up my ass about genre tags anyway. They serve no purpose for me - and i've noticed that people tend to act as if a *band* is in a genre rather than a song. So Wilco will always and ever be "alt-country" even if the particular song or album has almost no country sound to it at all. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V16 #773 ********************************
