I wish i still had the two (long worn out) T-shorts that a friend screen-printed for me for a birthday one year (both bad puns of my devising). The first was of an old man in a nightshirt and cap cowering beneath bedsheets while a wraith-like Rastafarian with a guitar stands at the end of his bed - the caption? The second - which I used to wear a lot while I was tutoring undergrad psychology labs - was the face of a well known early 20th century Austrian psychoanalyst in bright magenta on a white background. The disc, which collects tunes from his November 9-10, 1968 gigs at the titular venue, is due to arrive November 25 from Reprise, according to a Billboard.com report. Alas, the announcement of Sugar Mountain comes coupled with a bit of a bummer, in the form of yet another delay for Young's planned Archives series. The Billboard.com report notes that the release of the career-spanning sets has been pushed back to sometime next year, and that, according to a Reprise rep, Archives will come on DVD but not CD or Blu-ray. Looking forward, there's Young's forthcoming shows with Death Cab for Cutie and Wilco. Alas, there's a bit of a bump in the road there, too, with a few early November dates being postponed before the thing ever got off the ground. Still, there's plenty of Neil coming at you shortly-- including you, Australia and New Zealand: check it out at the bottom of our itinerary down below. Young will also rock yet another Bridge School benefit later this month. go to link for songs on CD plus live dates **************New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. Also on the soundtrack are two Robyn Hitchcock tunes, one of which was written for the film. It's a dense rocker punctuated by trumpets and wah wah and kitchen-sink percussion. The original usage designated a reinhabitation of a metaphor by actual reality, viz, Mr. Creosote: "He ate until he burst, literally." The problem is that people took it as a mere intensifier ("I was so hungry I could eat a horse!" intensified to "I was so hungry I could eat a horse, literally!" when spoken by a devout vegetarian). The irony is that that usage has led to clarifications along the lines of "she was so happy she pissed her pants, literally literally" - that is, she had to wash them, not just that she was uproariously happy... - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V16 #752 ********************************
