I'd seen the Egyptians open for R.E.M. on the Green tour, but I'd never really heard of "them," so I didn't pay much attention. Hindsight... So this show was my introduction proper to Mr. Hitchcock. In the intervening 18 years I have been blessed to remain in Portland, OR, where the aforementioned Mr. Hitchcock seems to enjoy playing and does so regularly. I've able to see him in many modes and with many players, in small venues and large halls. After I saw this show, I listened to this tape many, many times. You may note a minor tape glitch in there. I haven't listened to it in years, as I have been busy seeing his other shows, buying albums and ,thankyoudime, collecting myriad other live shows. Listening to this again, I can easily say this is one of the best performances I have heard, and certainly the best and most favorite that I have seen. The recoding came out great for working with the set up that I had. The crowd was mostly excellent (in that they weren't talking incessantly) and the sound in the room was wonderful. I was blown away by what I was seeing and you will hear some of that at the end of the main set (You & Oblivion) and at the end of the show. One of those great and wonderful shows where you are taping but it was just to good to not clap or hoot...right before you cut the mics. Anyway, long intro, blah blah. This is a great shwo and yo will be delighted to have it if you are remotely into Robyn. Oh, one last thing: it should be noted that Dean Martin died 2 months later, on Christmas day. 01 good evening 02 dechirico st 03 lysander intro 04 lysander 05 devil's radio intro 06 devil's radio 07 surgery 08 serving notice to mr.martin 09 the president 10 i'm only you 11 cool bug rumble 12 trilobite intro 13 trilobite. 14 glass hotel 15 you & oblivion TAPE FLIP 16 queen of eyes 17 this is how it feels 18 kingdom of love 19 zipper in my spine 20 birdshead 21 I am not me 22 only the stones remain - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Aug 2008 16:16:52 -0400 (EDT) From: Christopher Gross Subject: reap Isaac Hayes, 65. http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/08/10/hayes.obit/index.html ______________________________________________________________________ Christopher Gross On the Internet, nobody knows I'm a dog. chrisg@gwu.edu ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V16 #681 ********************************
