I think it's too bad that Chihuly and Jackson Pollock didn't live at the same time...so they could collaborate in making a nice Indian dish from chickpeas and spinach. The CEO of Thomas Kinkade lives in my neighborhood. I do my part for humanity by flipping off his house whenever I drive by. - -tc, thankful that my car window opens again - it fixed itself! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Aug 2008 00:08:05 -0700 (PDT) From: "C. Huff" Subject: Storefront Hitchcock Revisited Hello everyone. I enjoy reading your conversations, though I usually have little time to join in. Such is life. Anyway, I was drawn to the talk about Storefront Hitchcock, because that was such a cool experience and I thought I'd share my memories: Saw RH at Maxwell's - great show, mostly new material from Moss Elixir - and he announced from the stage that we should come to the taping on 14th St the next two days. So, good Feg that I am, I went on down and upon arriving heard the music and walked directly in front of the window at the end of the Yip Song. I had no idea what the concept was or what was going on - like a moth, I heard the Yip Song and just gravitated towards it. So there I am staring in the window walking by, and Robyn looks at me as everyone's clapping. This moment actually made it into the film (my 5 sec of fame) - RH says "I think we're being watched" - and I look totally clueless because I was. So much for acting :-) So I went to the next taping (RH says "During these tapings, everyone is allowed to comment about my hair looking strange"). It was better that the Maxwell's show, I think. Has anybody else ever had the experience at a concert of floating 5 feet above their body, drug-free? Feel free to share your floaty "enhanced" concert experiences if you must, but this has happened to me 4 times without drugs: RH solo at Toad's Place New Haven 1990 during "Madonna of the Wasps" Roxy Music at The Paramount Theatre NYC during "Out of the Blue" 2001 Tom Petty at Jones Beach during "Free Fallin" 2000 (a little embarrased by this one, but must be honest - took me totally by surprise) and (the relevant one) RH Storefront Hitch. taping during "Glass Hotel" - I would say the best version I ever heard, and the one that made it into the film (egomaniac that I am, I was shouting "Woo!" after the songs in as distinctive and non-obtrusive a way possible hoping it would make it into the film :-) It did after this one - not sure if they used any others from that taping...) In any event, the taping was fantastic, and they really didn't stop very long between songs. Deni was great as always, and Cap'n Tim did a fine job. Epilogue: I went to the Film Forum in NYC the day the movie came out in the theatres (that brief shining moment). There were 4 other people there, and they all had worked on the movie in some capacity. And they all laughed when I shouted "Omigod, that's me!". lol Shame that MGM buried it because I think it is really well shot etc. And the extras are really quite good looking ;-) Thanks for stirring up the memories!
