So what Robyn song should the Fall cover? ("Brenda's Iron Sledge", I say.) And what Fall song should Robyn cover? That's a little tougher... What we really need is something akin to the Nick Cave / Shane Macgowan EP (one duet, and one song each covering each other's songs). ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Jul 2008 14:21:09 +1200 From: grutness@slingshot.co.nz Subject: Re:on the wind >He played it on WRSI this afternoon and introduced as "Born on the >Wind." Actually, I was struck recently by the fact that that track is actually rather R.E.M.-ish (before R.E.M.). You've got your arpeggiated electric guitar riffs, and your bass playing melodic lines...True, there's no melody as such (which, of course, there typically is for Robyn and for R.E.M.), but certainly, if Robyn covered it, he could sing one over the rest of the track which is probably the most Hitchcockian of Fall songs... - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Jul 2008 02:50:56 +0000 From: Michael Sweeney Subject: Re: new annoying me-too thread idea I, Me, Mine wrote: >...Can't remember exactly why (the fishing industry in Seattle? lots of beer?), but back when the Bulls beat the Supersonics in the NBA Finals in the '90s, my GF and I (somehow) noted how so many of the Sonics players' names naturally suggested seafood-based re-nicks: Prawn Kelp, Detlef Shrimp, Clam Perkins, Hersey Sharkins, Craig Eelo, Skate McMillan, etc. < ...Can't believe I forgot to mention the team's defensive wizard, Gary Plankton...
