I'd hope the same thing will happen with the single. It's kind of an odd tactic for a disc retailer when you think about it. I mean, I bought the physical media of the "Backwards" box, but I'm sure a lot of people were on the fence about it, and hypothetically I could just give anyone my YR password and they could nab it. It just kinda saves one from having to rip or upload it. I'd hope the same thing will happen with the single. Not according to this: We are releasing the Hitchcock/Lowe single as a vinyl-only release. There are no plans to offer digital downloads. I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for supporting Yep Roc, Andrew 11Spot.com/Yep Roc It's kind of an odd tactic for a disc retailer when you think about it. I guess that there is the disincentive, huh? Well, I think they figure that anyone willing to go to all that trouble would probably be willing to pay for it and get better sound & packaging, etc. At least, enough people that the few who do borrow someone else's password, etc., aren't enough to worry about. And, of course, they may be well aware of the promotional value of free mp3s flying around - someone might hear it who otherwise wouldn't, and YR does have other RH rekkids for sale... (Do they still have cassette decks with new cars these days?) I can't imagine that they do. My '08 Matrix sure didn't. It's not upscale enough to have an iPod dock or mp3-capable disc player, but a cassette deck would probably be off-puttingly condescending to the car's target demographic, is what I figure. The other being that it seemed like the "most RAWK for the money" when weighed in balance with other offerings; back in the day you had to make decisions like that because you couldn't cherry pick albums (or 8 tracks) for only the songs you liked. Interestingly my love for this song never led to an ongoing affinity for The Baby's, though I did (much) later take a strong liking to UNION JACKS.
