I caught this post this morning in time to grab that disc for drivetime listening, and it is pretty good. It kinda stands out as the most solid of those latter-day Byrds records for not featuring any kind of gimmick or experiment to break its flow (I'd have to revisit "Ballad of Easy Rider", which is probably the album I've spent the least time with, before making a formal decision). And the band sounds very live, and very good. Weird that it was recorded in London... Wonder if any kind of headway could be made in assembling something akin to a Clarence White "solo" record. That vocal on "Bugler" is rill nice. - -Rex ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 May 2008 11:00:11 -0500 From: 2fs Subject: annoying MS Word/Windows issues (Lauren Elizabeth) At my second job (where I have no choice in the matter...) I recently started working on a different computer. MS Word has been acting bizarrely lately. Specifically, whenever I format anything in the document - even when I'm selecting only a particular word, phrase, paragraph, etc., the whole damned document follows suit. If I then hit ctrl-Z for undo, the change I wanted to make will remain and the rest of the document will revert to its previous formatting...but of course it's an enormous pain to constantly hit ctrl-Z every time I want to add a tab, bold a word, etc. I've fiddled around with various settings but nothing has worked. Can anyone kick Bill Gates in the head for me and see if the solution pops out? Or if you just know it or have an idea... Grrrr. (Hi Lauren: I figured since you're calling yourself "0% RH" these days, if I mean to say "0% RH" I can just use your name instead...) - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 May 2008 16:13:48 +0000 From: Michael Sweeney Subject: ...And, from the "Concert Cancellations" dept. I mean, that's the one, in the hardcover book binding. Nice little collection, but surprisingly way less obscure and surprising that the original Anthology. - -Rex ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 May 2008 22:23:30 -0500 From: 2fs Subject: "Little Pink"? Anybody with further info about this "Little Pink" session? From the Yep Roc site: "This extremely limited edition vinyl single includes "SickyBoy" from Robyn Hitchcock's *Little Pink* recordings and "Heart of the City," recorded live by Nick Lowe at WFUV. The single will be available exclusively at the Yep Roc Web Shop and at select Nick Lowe / Robyn Hitchcock tour dates." If they had brains, they'd be offering a digital download along with the single - since singles are THE WORST RECORDING PLAYBACK MEDIUM EVER. I fucking hate singles: they're always pressed off-center, and half the time even on first play they're more full of snap crackle and pop than a Rice Krispies orgy. It's probably Yep Roc's dubious proofreaders' fault - but please tell me Robyn isn't succumbing to the damned intercapitalization trend (the B in "boy" with no space beforehand). Yes I'm full of crankiness today. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 May 2008 08:57:20 -0700 From: "Stacked Crooked" Subject: Fwd: [Robyn Hitchcock] limited edition split 7" vinyl single with Nick Lowe apologies for any digest-lag... if any of all y'all will be purchasing this, please get in touch with me -- i'd like to include both tracks when i update the disco torrent. i *believe* that this is robyn's first split-7", yes? *********** BEGIN FORWARDED MESSAGE *********** On 5/1/2008 at 4:27 PM Yep Roc Records wrote: #intro_title# #intro_text# Yep Roc releases limited edition split 7" vinyl single with Robyn Hitchcock and Nick Lowe!
