Owing to the difference between the original standards for elecrical output and those adopted in the early 30's, the frequencies at which the needle on the Edison machine vibrates fall between the bits, as it were, cancelling out any direct transfer, no matter what bitrate is selected. All you can do is put a microphone on the horn of a cylinder player and record it "open air" style. - -Rex ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Apr 2008 11:10:52 +1300 From: grutness@slingshot.co.nz Subject: Re: Cluster & Eno The CD listing is different to the LP listing, then 1. At first I thought it might be because I checked the "gapless" box - but even when I unchecked that, it still does it. I can't see anything in my Preferences areas that would make it do this. Example: the last track on a CD is listed (by iTunes) as 8:02; when I rip it it's only 7:57 and cuts off those last five seconds. I can always rip in another program and import into iTunes, but that's inconvenient.
