By JOEL ANDERSON, St. Petersburg, Florida Times Staff Writer Published February 7, 2008 BROOKSVILLE -- Christopher Holder apparently rapped his way right into jail. A mother overheard the 19-year-old's profanity-laced solo which included the word "motherf-----s" as he walked by her house Sunday evening. She told a nearby sheriff's deputy, and soon after Holder was handcuffed and taken to jail, where he was booked on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and breach of peace. The mother said she "was extremely offended by it because her children were subjected to it," said Melissa Ciucci, a spokeswoman for the Hernando Sheriff's Office. "So, this does constitute a breach of these people's peace and quiet on their own street." Holder pleaded guilty in court Monday and was sentenced to six months of probation, according to jail records. see the rest of the story at: http://www.sptimes.com/2008/02/07/news_pf/Hernando/Singing_hip_hop_leads.shtml ************** Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. Turnout was insane. I caucused for Edwards in 2004 and and there were about 25 people there. Today there were over 150 people there for my precinct! 6 times as many people! There were probably more than 1500+ people caucusing at the same site. Lots of young people and first time caucus goers. The process was a little chaotic but it eventually it settled down. My precinct and the others at the site went overwhelmingly for Obama with an average of an 80-20 split. I talked to my Dad in suburban Navy town Kitsap county and it was 60-40 for Obama there. Turnout was huge there as well but not Seattle huge. I was elected as an Obama alternate to my legislative district convention and it was great to talk to all my neighbors and see everyone so enthused. The Clinton supporters i talked to were most gracious and agreed we had two solid candidates to choose from. - -- "Never go with a hippie to a second location." - Jack Donaghy ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 Feb 2008 17:32:32 -0800 (PST) From: Benjamin Lukoff Subject: Re: My Big Caucus On Sat, 9 Feb 2008, Jason Brown wrote: > I went to my Democratic caucus here in Seattle today. Similar story at my Democratic caucus in Seattle (different location from Jason's). My precinct had about 75 people there, probably four times as many as last time from what I hear (this is my first caucus). Tons of youngsters and first-timers at mine, too, although I was rather surprised to be the only minority in my precinct.... > The process was a little chaotic but it eventually it settled down. Turnout was huge there > as well but not Seattle huge. It was about 75-25 for Obama with us as well. On the first runthrough it was basically 75-13-12 for Obama-Undecided-Clinton, so she nearly missed getting a delegate, but after the pitches enough of the undecideds moved to Clinton to get them one from the precinct. I have to say, all the Obama supporters seemed very enthusiastic...but not that good at expressing WHY...whereas the few Clinton supporters there were were a lot more eloquent. Everyone seemed to agree that they'd support whoever got the nomination, though--no "I swear to God I'll vote for McCain if Hillary gets it" at my caucus. It seems pretty clear Obama will win Seattle, King County, and the rest of the metro area, but I wonder if Clinton won't do better in the rest of the state... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 Feb 2008 22:16:22 -0600 From: 2fs Subject: Firefox weirdness Just installed an update to the latest version of Firefox (2.0.0.12)...and it's doing something weird: when it starts up, it automatically opens a second tab to the start page. (Seriously, when my laptop dies, I will - but I can't afford to do it just because...) Anyway: tried uninstalling & reinstalling - no go. Cleared out most the stored info - still the same. I mean, as errors go, it's not a problem: it's not as if an extra tab takes up that much memory, and I can just close it. But it's just bizarre that it's happening that way. I'll try to contact Ffx tech support. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Feb 2008 01:21:46 -0500 From: lep Subject: Re: Firefox weirdness 2fs says: > I mean, as errors go, it's not a problem: it's not as if an extra tab takes > up that much memory, and I can just close it. FWIW, i run windows xp and have that same version of firefox installed, and haven't had this problem. perhaps check your settings for what your homepage is. if you have your homepage set to be taken from bookmarks, maybe there's a blank page there?
