He managed to borrow a black Tele from Stephen Paige of Barenaked Ladies. I noticed he wasn't playing his Fylde acoustic, but rather a small-bodied (almost parlour-sized) guitar - so I'm suspecting the Fylde's gone too. Didn't stick around for the signing to find out more (just made the last train). Hadn't Robyn had that Tele since Soft Boys days? - ---------------------- What horrible news! Robyn Says: "It turned out all these great explosions came from Telecasters. So I bought one in 1979 and have seldom played any other electric since. This is 2nd to 3rd hand information, but hash and playing football go together a bit better than one might think. Not simultaneously, but after you've finished playing the football, well, you need something to relax you and calm you down. Espcially with all the steroids a lot of them take to help with conditioning.... The full contingency of team names, for the record: Ted Woody & Mahmoud* Buddha Christ Leppo and the Jooves Lobster Gang Swooping Energies huge pile of hash I take credit/blame for the first one. I'll leave it up to everyone else. The best name in any of the leagues I'm in is a guy who (in a league called Viva Bad Taste) called his team the Infected Snatch Tumors, which isn't quite as good as last year, when he named them the PV Parasailers, in honor of his father having almost been killed and being very seriously hurt Parasailling in Puerto Vallarta earlier that summer (though he's made a pretty much full recovery since). *renamed after Amadinajad's(sp?) speech at Columbia; was previously an attack on my least favorite former Oakland Athletics catcher. PS, Michael: Adrian Peterson can't set NFL records every week :) And certainly not when he's on the roster of all 3 teams my various FF teams were playing (even though I still managed to win one of them). I think there are two guitars and both of them alternate between the riff and the chords, which is not as God intended. The Little Black Egg was a band name contender for a while. Confession time, I've never actually seen the HEN OUT video. Is there any chance in hell it'll surface as a DVD in the Egyptians box? Normally I hate "bonus DVD"'s in audio packages, but that'd be a major exception. - -Rex ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Nov 2007 12:12:06 -0800 (GMT-08:00) From: kevin Subject: Re: On yet another note.... >Not that that is any explanation, but he's got a German boyfriend ... You don't even have to wait and see: http://www.amazon.com/Robyn-Hitchcock-Egyptians-Gotta-This/dp/B00005LC5C/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1195245866&sr=8-2 Oh, I remember Reader Commenter #1 and his/her 0 imagination. You want great 'visualization'? Well, get an eyeful of Robyn's black-and-white checked shirt and black-and-white checked jacket combo. I think the trousers may ``match' as well'. And, hell, who doesn't love ``aggressive 'visuals' '' and ``pretentious surreal inserts'' ? 1980s video doesn't get any better than ``Gotta Let This Hen Out.'' as ever, Lauren - -- - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "People with opinions just go around bothering one another." - The Buddha ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V16 #401 ********************************
