I remember that it was tipped to be Neil's next release, and I asked a guy at the record store in Cumberland MD about it, and he said, "I think it's coming out next week... it's called 'Ragged Glory', right?" So that'd be 1990. The trunk songs on "Freedom" were supposedly unearthed in preparation for the boxeded setee. For real giggles... remember when it was going to be called DECADE 2? See, 'cuz DECADE covers Neil through, what, 1976? Consequently we are even now being treated to a thunderous soundcheck by what I believe is Kool & the Gang, whom I thought had gone on to Funk Heaven years ago. All you can see from here is a bass player, a drummer and a shitload of cops, but it sounds like an artillery exchange spiced with subsonic rumbling. I'm seriously dreading this because my desk is within like, 50 yards of the stage and when the band really gets going, whenever that is, I can tell already it's gonna be too loud to think in here - especially if they have horns. (Don't get me wrong, I have no quarrel with The Funk and those who Bring It; it's just too farging early and I have papers to shift from pile to pile.) Maybe I'll just slink out the 5th Avenue side of the bldg and go hide out at the ugly-ass library that won all those architectural awards a couple years back.
