At least they showed up against Mexico, but losing to Gambia? And OZ >goes down to Iraq? Not much for the support for Oceania's argument that it >deserves an automatic World Cup bid, I'm afraid. Yeah, it was a bit of a disappointment. It was a tough group, with Portugal and Mexico, but we should have beaten Gambia. Still, the senior team is doing far better than that, with basically a second strength team drawing with Wales in Wales a couple of months back - and there's often very little correlation between the age-group sides and the full international team. As for Oceania, Aussie is no longer part of the OFC - they joined Asia, which is pretty much what should have happened to tghe OFC as a whole. Or better still, since Asia's soccer is concentrated in the Arabian peninsula and the Far East, they could have split Asia into WMiddle East nand East Asia, with Oceania being combined with the latter. It would've made forr fairer groups - and better opponents for NZ than the Solomons and Fiji. BTW - should this have been a private email rather than to the Feglist?
