She is my heroine. Well thanks, not that I can take any credit for it. ;) I wouldn't even have known about it except I was researching my family's connection to Francis Lewis (NY businessman and signer of the Declaration of Independence). I was asking my dad questions about the family and he just said off the cuff "Oh, and somebody mentioned once that we were related to Eleanor Roosevelt." We've been using ancestry.com to research and it's been very fruitful - and addictive. - -tc ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Jul 2007 12:45:14 EDT From: HwyCDRrev@aol.com Subject: NEW on DIME The Soft Boys April 7, 2001 The Fillmore San Francisco, CA The following is the notes from the original seeder, so I'm guessing this is a re-seed? Either way, this is a very fine recording and a great performance from the The Soft Boys. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - ---------------------- The Soft Boys April 7, 2001 The Fillmore San Francisco, CA CD-R > EAC > WAV > FLAC Frontend [level 8 - aligned] I originally seeded this show some 9 months ago on EZT. It's a new rip with aligned flacs I received these discs from the taper a few days after the gig but didn't think to ask for info. It is a superior quality audience recording. There is very little audience interference. Am I just somewhat less materialistic/new gadgetistic than a lot of people or am I just plain old? So reading Eddie's rant about the New Pornographers not yet out disc makes me wonder if it is available anywhere to download (that I might have access to). I'd like to have it; my kids are starting to get rashes over the thought of it. Thanks for all the Of Montreal advice. I went two ways and got Satanic Panic and Aldhils Arboretum (because Stewart said it was like a Kinks album, and it doesn't take much more to get me to buy something). It turns out that my daughter's friend had already burnt her a copy of Sunlandic Twins. I'm going to take this slow. I have a bad feeling I'm going to get all consumed, and my blood pressure doesn't like that. I went to a chamber concert of students at the Tanglewood Music Center today. Man, there is some mean talent out there. Jill ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 01 Jul 2007 23:25:27 -0400 From: "Stewart C. Absolutely. My primary requirement for a phone is that someone else pay for it.. As that someone else is usually my employer, they get to choose the phone I use. I already have a Windows-based SmartPhone with a touchscreen (the T-mobile Wing), and it also has a slide-out keyboard. I've had the touchscreen only ones before, and they're really a pain in the arse to use with email. http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/Detail.aspx?device=acc8102d-4506-4eaa-bc 2f-9c7b8ec1b1e0 It works extremely well, and it's half the price of an iPhone. Of course, it doesn't have that "super cool" youtube interface, but given that the iPhone uses Edge and I've downloaded stuff with Edge (unfortunately, T-mobile has it, too), so there is no way I would ever try to use that feature on an iPhone in a million years or until that changes--whichever comes first. Boy, they should have figured out a way to make Verizon go for the deal.... You get to stream the album now (and we all know what can happen when you stream an album) and they will send it to you later. - - Steve ___________ Not since the medieval church baptized, as it were, Aristotle as some sort of early very early church father has there been an intellectual hijacking as audacious as the attempt to present Americas principal founders as devout Christians. Such an attempt is now in high gear among people who argue that the founders were kindred spirits with todays evangelicals, and that they founded a Christian nation. - George F.
