I thought it referred to "fish-flavored fries" and wrinkled my nose in disgust until I realized it referred to fried fish. Now, what about "crawfish boils"? I'm dipping my toe in the waters of Buffie at last. "Waters of Buffy" sounds like... oh, I'm just not gonna go there. I've pretty much avoided the show because there's just too much of it. I don't have the energy to watch seven seasons of a show, especially since Netflix only sends me two discs at a time. I'd be occupied for months. I suspect I probably would like it if I gave it a chance, but... ehh. I can't be bothered. I tend to avoid anything that involves vampires, anyway. Most. Overused. Horror. Trope. Ever. Speaking of cultish TV series, I have been watching Battlestar Galactica and I've been enjoying it very much. I'm about halfway through Season 2 at the moment. I remember watching the original show when I was a young 'un, but this one is much better. I especially like the new twist with the Cylons looking like humans - very Philip K. Dick. Also, Jamie Bamber is a hottie. i'm in mourning after finishing up season 3. the philip k. dick aspects are what i love most about the show, but i do love the family of characters as well. have you seen any of the dvd extras that have jamie bamber with his english accent? or without his american accent some might say. i'm not under mr. bamber's spell, but if i were, the accent might just finish me. i have a kind of bizarre crush on starbuck. yes, i'm quite unique that way, i know. actually, she often reminds me of my childhood friend betsy (which makes the crush either understandable or a little creepy; i'm not sure which.) also, predictably, after watching enough episodes, i developed a bit of a crush on captain adama. he's got the appeal of the older authority figure who is distant and a bit mysterious. he nearly always speaks in a hushed tone and his heart belongs to galactica. sigh. i imagine it's standard-issue father issues (which makes the crush either understandable or a little creepy; i'm not sure which.) i think these crushes are more on the characters the actors. both of them would get way less sexy in civilian clothes. eddie says: > what do you do when your favourite band releases a shitty album? personally, i like to think of it as practicing being disappointed. xo - -- - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "People with opinions just go around bothering one another." - The Buddha ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Jun 2007 01:41:52 -0500 From: "Brian Huddell" Subject: RE: Agh > and now the new pornographers have released a shitty album, and i don't > know what to do. should i weep? should i self-flagellate? should i > mush a turd into the white-house lawn? Well, you could have gotten more practice on this if you'd chosen different favorites to begin with. Being a longtime Neil Young fan prepares you for a *lot*. But I rarely hew to a singular favorite band, tending to have a stable of five or so at a time. Alternatively, choose a new favorite band, and have it be, like, My Bloody Valentine or Captain Beefheart or somebody. No danger of albums of any kind to disappoint you. Last question-- this has to be a band, not a solo artist, right? No, no, sorry, one more question... d00d, Queensryche to the Egyptians? Yee-haw! Can't imagine -- among the Lou Malnati, Home Run Inn, etc. stuff -- why I did not chime in with this before (and it'll mean nothing to non-Chicagoans (AND still yet additionally nothing to most of my now-(25-plus yrs, and counting)-fellow-Northsiders)) -- but the pizza of my high-school youth (and now only occasionally, due to regional availability) was Aurelio's Pizza. ...Oh, gawd, the just-salty-enuf blend of cheese on those...the big main place down in the southern sub of Homewood (the de rigeur spot for us after the "Big Game" or the "Big Show")...the "Tell 'em Joe sent you!" slogan...ahhhh -- the memories of my oft-misspent-adolescence...AND, based on my too-few visits (for pizza; otherwise, almost ANY visits down there are more than enuf for me these days), still getting it done... Michael Sweeney ...Damn -- NOW I want Aurelio's -- AND I'm in Tallahasse, FL...where it's likely (but only a BIT) tougher to get one of 'em than it is back on the Northside... _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail to go?
