I went to the NHL all star game back in '97 and even then people were yelling at him to get off the ice because he was too old! His age doesn't seem to be a determent with the puck possession style the Wings play. The ex-Shark great Igor Larionov also extended his career playing for the Wings. I remember when Larionov was a Shark and gave the Wings fits in 1994 playoffs when the Sharks beat the Wings. A lot of the pundits thought that the Red Wings would lose to the Calgary Flames in the first round, as they thought the Wings were too much of a finesse team and not tough enough for playoff hockey. Given the Wings track record in the playoffs since 2003, they were certainly justified in picking Calgary. I think the Sharks were favored over the Wings as well before the start of the second round. The Sharks can still win this series Tom, especially considering the Wings Matthew Schneider is out for the rest of the playoffs with a broken wrist.
