Mitigating that was the fact that I had yet to discover the GB's at the time, and the fact that RH was actually the opener within days of the show that I saw, I think, and on my continent. Because we (in the Central time zone) see network shows in "real time," at the same as the East Coast (Eastern time zone); the announced time is merely shifted an hour to account for the difference between the Eastern and our time zone. Pacific time zone viewers see a "West Coast" feed that is delayed several hours (3, I'd reckon, to match up with how far "behind" Eastern time they are). As for Mountain viewers -- I have no idea. Those of us of a certain age (most, I'd reckon) and geography (fewer) will dimly recall the days when networks advertised their shows as starting, for example, "Monday at 8, 7 central and mountain", although I sure as hell didn't know what it meant at the time. I.E. If it's advertised as being shown at "8pm Central", then it's also "8pm Mountain". That's why moving from Central to Western time wasn't a big shock for me, TV-wise. Our primetime is 7-10. Our local news is at 10, and Leno, Letterman, etc are at 10:35. Not sure how SNL is handled. The East Coast feed people watch it live at 11:35 Eastern, right? Which would be 9:35 our time. Yet we don't see it until 10:35. So it's not really live for us - it's shifted an hour. Yet when Ashlee Simpson made her infamous lip sync flub-up, I saw it. They fixed it for the West Coast feed (according to Sue), which is a whole different performance, I believe. But I guess they didn't even bother to mask it from the Eastern feed for us Mountain folks. - --------------------------------------- - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2007 17:04:20 -0400 From: "Lauren Elizabeth" Subject: their special day hi fegs, happy earth day. google has a really cool version of their logo to-day. i tried to find a link to the image, but couldn't (i didn't try very hard.) btw, is there a graphic arts term for what google does on special occasions with its logo? if not, maybe there will be soon (maybe a "google morph" but something smarter. and catchier.) this date was always a fave of mine as it is my old high-school friend ben's birthday, the birthday of an air-traffic controller i once dated, jack nicholson's day, and j. robert oppenheimer's as well. xo - -- - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "People with opinions just go around bothering one another." - The Buddha ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2007 23:15:37 +0200 From: Sebastian Hagedorn Subject: Re: their special day - -- Lauren Elizabeth is rumored to have mumbled on 22.
