After a few weeks the event was changed to "Robyn Hitchcock & The Nashville Crawdads." It was advertised that Peter Buck and Nashville Friends would be playing with Robyn - but all other possible guests remained a mystery right up until show time. Robyn started with Belltown Ramble and when he got to the line "Where the Claremont used to be CLA-'REM'- ONT" - out walked Peter Buck quickly followed by Gillian Welch, David Rawlings, John Paul Jones, and Sean Nelson. It was a pretty good bet that Gillian and David were going to be there - but, everyone was simply blown away by the fact that John Paul Jones was playing mandolin. The performance put in by the band this night can be summed up by simply saying that it was "Fantastic!" The vibe was relaxed and there were several "huddles" to discuss what songs/chords/parts everyone would play. Robyn told a few crazy stories as is his tradition - and the night was very magical. Enjoy the recording and continue to share the gift of music. ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. I'm going to see Anoushka in concert playing sitar on April 5 - she's supposed to be "better than her father". As a Beatles fan who had a ticket to see Ravi Shankar at Expo 67 in Montreal, and whose parents postponed our trip causing me to miss the concert, I've never seen the father perform. Ah, who knows if I'm still interested in sitar anyway? A friend of ours (my husband's supervisor at work) is making a documentary about her. Pet Names: We have two cats, a sister and brother whose names are Brad and Janet. My daughter was 16 when we got them and is the one who named them. Kevin, When Criterion released the deluxe edition DVD of "Metropolitan" last year, some articles were published about what Whit was currently up to. He actually working on two projects now. http://www.whitstillman.org/ Hopefully they will see the light of day very soon. Kay, who use to be one of our leading female feg posters and was part of the Manhattan deb scene, was briefly acquainted with Whit. Kay maintained that the Audrey Rouget character from was partially based on her long conversation with Whit and her obsession with the writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. Well, Nut is mad, which is how he got his name, and Bolt runs from noise and strangers, which is how he got his name. Nut is also known as "the panda", since he's very big, black and white, and hunts vegetation rather than animals. He's been known to bring home toetoe, which are five-foot long pieces of pampas or bamboo-like plants. His favourite toy is the drawer of the DVD player (he runs to watch it move as soon as I pick up the remote), and his favourite TV channel is the window of the clothes dryer. And, as I've said before, normal cat behaviour is a cat rubbing itself against your legs. *Ab*normal cat behaviour - such as Nut's - is a cat rubbing itself against your legs *while you're having a shower*. Thankfully, Bolt's a more cat-like cat - the strong, dark, silent type, but very affectionate when he's in the mood - good company, basically.
