I've seen Damo Suzuki only once, and it must've been more than 10 years ago. But I wrote this about Yo La Tengo in November: > Last week I saw Yo la Tengo in D"usseldorf. I like their shows because it always seems like they have a good time performing together, they're friendly with the audience (and the crowd is always a good one), and they usually play a range of old and new songs. And hey, if you like the music, even better. I'd go just for the possible cheap thrill of hearing Little Honda live. It can usually be counted on for a chilled, fun night out (and I hate going out to shows, so there you go.) Oh, and check out the merch table. They sometimes have good t-shirts for sale. The two things I'll always remember about the time I saw Suzuki (around 1999, I'm guessing?) was that 1) it was my birthday 2) near the end of the set, he went through the crowd while the band jammed, and ritualistically HUGGED every person. Or at least, every person on the floor immediately in front of the stage (50 or so?). Quite endearing. Nothing to do with Radiohead, other than a complete vocal imitiation and forced artiness. It's odd how you can come off relatively stable in this post, yet > leap into the abyss again with the other. "Stable" being here defined as "not critical of your shitty behavior". It just could be you're not always right about everything. CYHSY has been compared to Talking Heads like craaaazy. And Byrne (the young Byrne, when he still liked to "growl" a bit) is the real standard-bearer of this general sound, not Yorke.
