I just took a preview listen to the album on eMusic. The voice is appealing, and the songs are quite good -- lovely melodies. For my taste, though, there isn't enough variation in the arrangements. When the core band sound is this simple and this relaxed, I tend to drift if there aren't at least moderate left-turns along the way. (Possibly it's a case of cutting my teeth on XTC records.) The first 5 tracks really sound like the very same song. This maybe could've been helped by shuffling the track list a bit, as there are a couple of change-ups in the last few songs. But by then, I was kind of done. It's a shame really, as there's a lot to like. - -- Dolph ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jan 2007 09:19:46 -0500 From: "Bachman, Michael" Subject: RE: Ravi Shankar is gay? Yah, they're massive status symbols. I don't get it either. I do have a cell phone, and it's as pockmarked and cratered as Phobos, the moon of mars... it's my second one ever and I'd still have the first had it not been stolen. But I never, ever see anyone else with a phone that looks half as crappy, and I find that a little odd.
