Well, that's not a problem anymore. Instead, the only English song in current heavy rotation on Spanish radio is now the equally incongruous "Two of Hearts" by Stacy Q..."I I-I I I I need, I need you", that one. Any idea how this happens? Do these songs just get featured in Telenovelas or does something else lead to their resurgence among non-English speaking populations? It's really weird. - -SER ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Dec 2006 00:54:38 -0500 From: "Lauren Elizabeth (gmail)" Subject: Reap Gerald Ford, former U.S. president, 93. http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews.aspx?type=politicsNews&storyID=2006-12-27T052449Z_01_N26411374_RTRUKOC_0_US-FORD.xml&WTmodLoc=NewsHome-C3-politicsNews-2 xo Lauren - -- - ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "People with opinions just go around bothering one another." - The Buddha ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Dec 2006 23:43:20 -0800 From: Eb Subject: Yep yep yep yep yep yep yep yep yep yep yep yep.... Well, Zoe has mined the '80s college-rock generation no shortage of times too. So, Dean and Britta are reduced to ripping off old Claudine Longet tunes, eh? Well, I guess every artist gets around to her at some point.... I was listening to Billy Bragg's "Help Save the Youth of America" earlier today, and thinking how remarkably it sounds like a Green Day song. Without having heard the version, how can you be sure it's "ripping off" rather than merely "covering" (or even, god forbid, improving upon her version)? Anyway, I liked a lot of their last recording, so I'll add this one to the list... Substitute Aimee's mid 80's flame Jules Shear for Michael. Michael B. NP Midlake - The Trials of Van Occupanther. This should have been on my Top 10, easily. ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V15 #312 ********************************
