Half of its content had to do with the fact that I was refusing to be baited into onlist battles yet again, so even a cursory reading should've revealed that it was a private e-mail. The other half was not for onlist consumption. Applying a little logic, knowing that that e-mail was meant for Eb's eyes only... there would only be two reasons for me to make that assertion. One is if I'm nuts, if Eb believes. The other is that I sincerely believe it, for whatever reason. How embarassing for someone to've unnecessarily broadcast such a claim about himself. Seems like the kind of thing Quail would find funny if he were not so partisan. Is there really anyone left on the list who doesn't realize that divorce has completely DESTROYED Rex's emotional stability? Appararently so. I think that it's ironic that you claim that I know "this much" about your personal life, and yet again and again you throw out this claim that my divorce, about which you know nothing, has driven me around the bend. Nobody here knows much at all about my personal life, actually. tell ya, I'm seriously considering leaving the list. The go on with your bad self. I'm not. I thought it would be a LOT longer, but it's only one song and very good interview about Syd. It was bcasted on the 22nd, but was probably taped around 2 weeks before. The start is cut, not because of me, but due to some radio station dimbulb who didn't turn the volume up--the station bcasted about 30-40 seconds of dead air. A scheduled Hitchcock in-store turns into this spontaneous jam. As I remember, the tip of my microphone was sticking out from my shoulder bag to avoid detection. This is a fresh transfer and while I didn't hear any pops, diginoise or drop outs, there are a few spots of between-song patter where there is a bit of, I dunno, garbling? The waveform looks strange but it plays through and you can still understand what's being said, and at the same time something isn't quite right. But the musical peformances are all fine and sounding pretty good. I normalized a bit aggressively because the levels were low. Sample provided. Robyn is clearly the ringleader here and his take on "Man on the Moon" is really something to behold. I'd also add that "The Arms of Love" is one of his finest songwriting moments ever. Short and easy to download. I'm sure I copied this for someone(s) a dozen years ago but the master hasn't been out of the archive in almost that long. I've only reacted "hysterically" to the prodding of one list member, who, if he really believed I was a nutcase (etc. etc.) would not hector me as he does, for fear of his life. Honestly, assuming for just a second here that nobody involved is mentally ill, we have a case where I have repeatedly, unnecessarily overreacted to being repeatedly, unnecessarily baited. Nothing deeper than that. I don't know where Eb's deep dislike of me started, but it seems pretty visceral. He just doesn't like me on some deep level. Maybe I started it by being just so damned annoying and thin-skinned, "the ultimate easy mark", as Eb and Quail have suggested. I dunno. That's not a reason to pick on someone, but largely nobodu else agrees. Fine. But that last thing I sent to Eb was MEANT TO BE OFFLIST. If he's in a big enough tizzy to have accidentally posted that to the list, then jeez, I won't even respond to him in that context. Not good for anyone, is it? When Woj got pissed about this shit occuring onlist before, I knocked it off. Someone else has kept raging publicly. Eb is about to bust a nut because nobody else agrees I'm a deranged, slobbering maniac. Conversely sometimes I'm flummoxed that fewer people find his behavior offensive (that glib putdown to the longest pure concert review we've seen in a while really rankled), but whatever. Obviously we don't bother anyone else as much as we bug each other, except when in conflict. So I'm knocking it off, even offlist. And that, friends, is that. Now, more concert reviews, please. Or mix tape reviews. Anything, really. Top 10 lists are good. - -SER ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Nov 2006 19:39:08 -0600 From: "Brian Huddell" Subject: RE: conan > Well it LOOKs good... no audio though... ;) No problem here -- looks and sounds fine, thanks Oliver! That seems obvious now. I feel like I should mention that I once sent Eb an offlist message and he asked whether or not it had been sent to list. The point being that I think it was an actual mistake on his part, not some weird attempt to make the private public. As for why more people aren't upset when someone makes a comment that would seem rude in real life, I think it's because this isn't real life. It's a virtual sandbox -- you can try to throw sand at me but none of it will ever get in my eyes. That said, whoever made me download this Joanna Newsom album has something to answer for, because I can't stop listening AND I think I hate it. Or love it. I was also kinda hoping that Robyn would join in the smashing sugar glass fun at the end, but oh well. Before that, he was just a harmlessly pretentious, self-involved goofball whose inflation valve required recurrent tweaking. It's always funny to me how I get painted as the big anti-Rex crusader.
