Especially with all three essentially being different verisons of the same band: with Stipe, Mills, and Stringfellow (who is also pulling this off, with The Posies and Big Star, not to mention his solo stuff), it's R.E.M.; with John Ramberg it's The Minus 5; and with Robyn. Plus, R&TV3 would just be replacing Tuatara for two of them, so.... Some television appearances and other goodies are mixed in. In all there are close to a dozen VHS tapes. Most of the shows we didn't shoot ourselves were obtained directly from other tapers, so what's here is all first or second generation stuff for the most part. All on good quality blank tape. All at SP, in hi-fi (where available), etc. A random sample of tapes I pulled out of storage today include: Robyn & the Egyptians - Masquerade, Atlanta GA 6/23/92 (set list not in the gigography) Robyn and various folks - 40 Watt, Athens GA 1/2/93 120 Mins appearance from 1988 120 Mins appearance from 1989 Old Grey Whistle Test from 1986 Tower Records, Sherman Oaks 4/25/89 Town & Country, London 1/25/87 there are several others If someone in the community is already doing this or these tapes have circulated in good quality, I apologize, I'm not tapped in enough to know. If not: What we would like to do is to donate these tapes to someone in the RH community who has a proven aptitude for capaturing from VHS and properly authoring to DVD (no standalone burns, this is for a computer-based person). We simply don't have the time or energy to do it ourselves at this point but we'd love to see it happen. We also want to make sure it gets done and we're not just passing the chore onto someone else who can't make the time to to do it. In the Wilco community, this has been done very successfully and that's what prompted me to post here. http://www.thedvdproject.net/Wilco_DVDs.htm So we're looking for someone who truly knows what they are doing and has the time and inclination to take this on and to torrent or otherwise disseminate the results. A pending move from one coast to the other necessitated going through the achives and at this point we have come to realize if we're not going to get to it, somebody should. Please respond to me directly at JEMSHQ@gmail.com if the above description fits you. I can provide a more detailed list to interested parties.
