Stewart - -- np: Joanna Newsom - Ys ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Nov 2006 22:23:30 +1030 From: great white shark Subject: The quail/Rex/eb identity theory I have been following the Eb, Quail ,Rex disputations in pseudo lurk mode via the Archives over the past weeks and I have temporarily rejoined the list to throw my highly unlikey and moronic conspiracy theories into the maelstrom. Occasionally I subscribe to the view that neither Rex or the Quail are real, both are creations of a server bot who is designed speciifically to establish vicious flame wars between fictitious warring personalites when the list becomes too big for the server to handle and woj needs to scare off a few excess patrons. Covering all bases, I also contrarily subscribe to the concept that Rex is posting both his OWN and Quails posts simply because he has a pathalogical need to be disliked/pitied/admired by as many people as possible. But annoyingly- I ALSO subscribe to the theory that that naughty and insidious Quail creature is busy generating both Ebs, Rexs and his OWN posts against his own will because those sons of fun, the Great Old Ones, the many tentacled one Cthullu and Nyalarthotep, the good old crawling chaos- who live outside of time and space as we mere mortals know it and who care not for our pretty norms and morality - have turned the once Great and Wondrous Quail into a hapless tool of their own devices . How the mighty have fallen !!!!!!. On another tack, I note that Rex has referred to the surreal possee section of my site The Abandoned Brain. This aptly named ferrago of old archive posts and mouse droppings is to all extents and purposes, abandoned, as I dont update it any more BUT, it has been moved recently to an advert free site which no longer infects the innocent users computer with nasty spyware and intrusive adverts. It now resides here http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/Robyn.html and if you have never visited, you will find the pick of the old surreal posse and quailposts that represent a particularly fecund and imaginative era of the list, one to which it can no longer aspire to ( or some would say descend into ) in these bleak post 9/11 times. ps ww.ukrockfestivals.com is the home of my Uk festivals archive and I am always on the look out for contributions , if you attended any festivals in the Uk from 1960-85 and have any photos recollections etc, then contact me and Ill add them to the site . The short version is available at http://www.amazon.com/wire, along with a full mp3 of "2 Rainbeau Melt" from the Fuzzy Warbles box set, and the extended version is available at that page as well as http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000ICLTT6, the detail page for the box. It's about 40 minutes, a lot of Andy talking about future projects, favorite music, listening recommendations, Robyn Hitchcock's psyche, and Colin Moulding, "international man of mystery." It was originally done for the Music You Should Hear feature, http://www.amazon.com/mysh -- hope to get the transcript up there before too long. Probably the most fun I've had interviewing anybody. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Nov 2006 12:59:10 -0800 From: Tom Clark Subject: Re: "The Minus 3 and Me" On Nov 11, 2006, at 2:35 AM, Matthijs van Geldere wrote: > Meanwhile, in 1992, I took my daughter Maisie to a Lollapalooza > show in > California, where her compass was flickering towards Ministry. No shit! I was there too and I would have absolutely freaked if I ran into Robyn. And it very well could have happened during the Ministry set, since the combination of Bill Reiflin's drumming and the half tab of window pane in my system had me heading for the concession... - -tc ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Nov 2006 16:37:17 -0500 From: Caroline Smith Subject: Re: Toronto Show Best parts for me were Vibrating, I Wanna Destroy You, Tomorrow Never Knows and Listening to the Higsons. I have to agree that Robyn's dancing during Listening to the Hisgsons was great. He's a good dancer, he should do it more often. I'm pretty sure they played another encore after Listening to the Higsons, but we were on our way out at that point. A great night overall, but we should've skipped the opening act. And, it was really nice to meet you Carissa, hope you made it home safely. Oh, I overheard some guys next to me talking about how Robyn's shirts would be well-received in Quebec. I hadn't thought of it before, but it's true. On 12-Nov-06, at 12:26 PM, Stewart C. Russell wrote: > A day late, I know, but: > > Setlist: > > Adventure Rocket Ship > Sally was a Legend > Oli! This was in response to the people who requested there be some kind of database of RH recordings online. They're not actually a part of the database, and are not searchable per se. However, if you go to the "Live Appearance" section and enter "archive.org" into the search box, then choose "review(s)" and search, you will get a list. Russell, Note: This is an audience recording from near the back of the hall. It's a little echoey and distorted, but a decent record of the show. While the files have been sector-aligned, the main set is too long to fit on a CD. As no CDs were harmed in the making of this recording, splitting is let as an exercise for the reader. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Nov 2006 12:55:18 +1300 From: grutness@slingshot.co.nz Subject: Re: "The Minus 3 and Me" >Meanwhile, in 1992, I took my daughter Maisie to a Lollapalooza show in >California, where her compass was flickering towards Ministry. And Kimberley is the guy who coined "Walking on Sunshine" which fits the model as a phrase as well.
