Gaviotas are a 3-piece punk/metal/pop band with catchy melodies and tough-as-nails songs about politics, girls, love, war, and hope for the future. A terrific show. A real treat to simply watch RH and Peter Buck play electric guitar. Cool setlist with lots of OT and Jewels material, plus two killer tracks from Globe of Frogs. Lots of clever Robyn whimzy. Great recording. Enjoy. The spider roadie that RH refers to is Grant Lee Phillips lurking around the stage with two giant spider halloween decorations. He attaches them to Robyn's and Scott's mic stand. Grant remains onstage to sing backup on Ole! Tarantula. Sonic Studios mic>Battery Box>Sony D7 DAT>ProTools (for level adjustment, eq, compression, and song separation)>Flac Taped and mastered by JB. Please don't sell or convert to lossy format. It's been a while... And I am writing to ask for a huge favour. I've been really sick (this time) since June of 2005 (Crohn's Disease for those of you who don't know) and though I tried to avoid it I am having surgery number nine at 8 a.m. eastern at Mount Sinai hospital in Toronto. I just confirmed that with the doctor's office a few minutes ago. Yup. And I haven't ever missed a Robyn show here. *Not ever.* I've also seen him in Detroit as well as various venues on the West Coast with fellow fegs back in 2000. Monsieur Hitchcock is coming here with The Venus 3 boys on November 10th. My ultimate goal is to get to the show, which is only 10 minutes away from the hospital! But this is super major surgery. I'm going to be in the operating room for a loooong time. I have a good feeling in terms of this procedure working and being able to eat again...I haven't had anything but clear fluids and Boost/Ensure since December 24, 2005...still love Jell-O after all these months if you can believe it. ;-) But I'd prefer real food. And it would be cool if the horrid pain and nausea go away. I'd just rather not have surgery to fix things, but I have really exhausted every other option. And while my goal is to be better for the gig on the 10th, reality might not be quite as forgiving. Will the doctors give me an evening pass? Can I sneak out? I have done that in the past but I am supposed to be older and wise now... And so back to this huge favour. I have seen tons of announcements for Robyn shows lately from Dime. While I am a member, I don't have a CD or a DVD burner. So I was wondering if one (or more...) of you kind souls would mind burning me some discs. I'll send you postage and blanks (and/or money) so what I am really asking for is someone to share some of their *time* with me. I recognise that this a *huuuuge* thing to ask of anyone, so I understand if no one can assist me. No worries. :-) If anyone here (who still remembers me) wants to keep track of me try this. Please get well. Positive vibes to you. Hasn't Robyn gone out of his way for you in the past. I thought you mentioned he gave you a tape at some point as a favor to you. Maybe it's not out of the question to get a special visit if the gig is really only 10 minutes from where you'll be. ??? Just a thought, but when Robyn comes out after the shows to sign things and chat, maybe some us could mention your situation. I know that's an even taller order, but you never know. - -Nuppy - --- twofangs@sympatico.ca wrote: From: "randi l. spiegel" To: "globe of fegs" Subject: robyn and bad surgery timing Date: Mon, 30 Oct 2006 14:21:46 -0500 Hey y'all! Several people have asked how to email me at the hospital. If you don't use the CarePage service (my little website) you can just send email here: https://www.mtsinai.on.ca/CareMail I think you can do this without signing up. I am on digest so I don't know what's going on over in these parts. Brian wrote me about maybe getting Robyn to stop by the hospital. Which would be so unbelievably awesome. If he remembers me! It's been six years since I've talked to him so I'm afraid he may have forgotten "Crohn's-girl." I thought of writing to Yep Rock (too late) and I am leaving for the hospital at 5 a.m. (less than 10 hours from now) so I'm going nuts trying to get ready. And I have no idea when I will have access to a computer or this account again. All depends on how the surgery goes. If anyone has the inkling to send me CDs or DVDs, my addy is on my CarePage website. Or ask dear Woj as I am about to email him. I have few shows (if any) from the past year (or more) and I am not picky in the slightest. I am just grateful. I really appreciate all the email I have received and the warm wishes. And if Robyn walks into my hospital room on November 10th I will have one of the greatest experiences ever. If not, hopefully he will come back and play soon 'cause there are a lot of us in T.O. that miss him. Hope y'all have a great Halloween! Send me some good vibes if you have a chance. :-) fading back into yesterday before tomorrow comes, Randi *what scares you most will set you free* ~ robyn hitchcock ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Oct 2006 22:46:13 -0800 From: "Stacked Crooked" Subject: My name is "Eb", and tonight my "gaydar" is running on all cylinders! in case you missed it, season two of *Wonder Showzen* has been uploaded to usenet. i'm only through the first four episodes, but i am happy to be able to state that anybody who doesn't agree that this is the greatest teevee show of all time (at least in the english language) can kiss eb's ass. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Oct 2006 23:19:04 -0800 From: Tom Clark Subject: Re: My name is "Eb", and tonight my "gaydar" is running on all cylinders!
