He was besieged by a fury of question marks, evidently. If I'm reading the rather sketchy context correctly and you're referring to the rather odd quality of his voice on the first track he sings on the Rogue's Gallery compilation (at least as evidenced on that CD's Amazon page - whose URL's too damn long to inlcude but is easy to find so I'm not bothering), then I'd suggest listening to a bit of one of the other tracks he sings on...where he sounds much more like himself, suggesting that on the first track he's singing in character (as a "Cruel Ship's Captain"). But if you're talking about something else, I've got no idea. Ferry was also (as Google informs me) recently picked as a clotheshorse for the Spencer & Marks stores. Looks pretty good for 61. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 Sep 2006 23:11:18 -0500 From: 2fs Subject: reap? After the dustup at freedb a while back, now I'm getting zip-nada-nothing from any of its sites. My database can't connect to it to enter/update discs - - and at the database's forums, there are a couple of other folks saying the same thing (today). Does anyone know if it's gone for good, or just down temporarily? - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 3 Sep 2006 13:35:27 +0100 (BST) From: Jim Davies Subject: Re: Syd's house for sale A three-bedroomed house for 300k? Either house prices are lower in Cambridge, or this is further from the city centre than it sounds, or that's just about - or maybe less than - the going rate. It seemed as if - personal notes and all - they were thinking of charging a small premium. Maybe it's the other way round - maybe they've dropped the price, on account of the likely arrival of the occasional nutter. We're looking for a new house at the mo', but... no. xJim ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 03 Sep 2006 17:20:15 -0400 From: "Stewart C.
