I mean, I've been keeping Andy in toy soldiers for years now. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Aug 2006 13:55:33 -0700 (PDT) From: Benjamin Lukoff Subject: Re: Andy Partridge victimizes my wallet again I heard that too (was it on Audities)? I'm sure details will be posted in due time on Andy's pages at APE and Idea Records. Can't. Stop. Watching. Firefly. Such good TV. I just watched the episode "War Stories" last night. Inara playing tongue-hockey with the Councilor? Now that's quality entertainment. My copy of The Black Watch's Seven Rollercoasters just arrived from lala.com...and it's doing something I've never seen a CD do. The last track is numbered 7 - but before that track, there are 10 minutes of silence (indexed on the disc negatively; i.e., the display reads -9:59, -9:58, etc.). You can get to track 7 by track-forwarding to it...but if you just let the disc play, or ffwd through the silence, that ten-minute silence starts over again. Bizarre. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Aug 2006 14:55:39 -0700 From: Eb Subject: Re: very weird... 2fs wrote: > My copy of The Black Watch's Seven Rollercoasters just arrived from > lala.com...and it's doing something I've never seen a CD do. What's your confusion? It's just like any other CD which have a few seconds of "countdown" before the next track starts. Only it's 10 minutes in this case. Hooray for "24" and "The Office," Eb PS Would our lives be any easier if the Middle East produced "Murmur," and fighting kept breaking out in Mitch Easter? Just wonderin'. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Aug 2006 17:24:53 -0500 From: 2fs Subject: Re: very weird... No - the digital display, after ten minutes, starts counting down from 9:59 again. Actually (and what I didn't wait around to figure out but which my 'puter made clear to me) what's going on is there's actually about 30 minutes of silence - but apparently (somehow) the readout is set to count down from 9:59 to 0:00 three times (after the track itself). My confusion was that, having not bothered sitting through the damned half-hour of silence, the disc appeared to be starting the silent section *over again*. So that would not be a normal silent interval at all, if that's what it had done. As it is, having the index count down from ten minutes thrice is something I haven't seen before either (all in the same numbered track index). The last track, by the way, is the rest of the EP backwards (cleverly titled "Palindrome" - which, therefore, the entire CD is). This way, you can run out and grab a quick bite to eat before listening to the CD backwards. PS Would our lives be any easier if the Middle East produced > "Murmur," and fighting kept breaking out in Mitch Easter? Just > wonderin'. Well, not for Mitch Easter. My friend Roger knows his wife and him - I'll ask Roger to check with Shalini if, in fact, there's lots of fighting actually *in* Mitch Easter. I'd also suggest that Murmur wouldn't come have come out anywhere near as well. Even more violent than having Phil Spector produce it. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Aug 2006 14:21:02 -0700 (PDT) From: J Subject: Re: reap Despite their rugged exterior, Immortal's songs are actually pretty catchy. There was no reference to where this info came from. That Audities post was from Mitch Friedman. His source would be Andy, although he didn't say so. Mitch long ago admitted that he was the person who let slip most of the pre-Apple Venus demos, so maybe he should get a little credit for Andy's Fuzzy Warbles idea. - - Steve __________ No matter where you go, there you are. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Aug 2006 12:10:07 +1200 From: grutness@slingshot.co.nz Subject: Re: fegmaniax-digest V15 #200 > > On 8/28/06, 2fs wrote: >> >> > On 8/28/06, Jeff Dwarf wrote: >> >> > It's just sad to see the Church of Satan starting to > > > go through the same schisms that have plagued all the >> > other Abrahamic religions. >> >> To say nothing of metal-at-large.
