Anyone already familiar with Anton's work will be very surprised by this - it's a bit of a departure: though unmistakeably him, he's pulled out all the stops on this one... it's a double and I reckon for now, his magnum opus. If you'd like to get yer hands on a signed copy, numbered and including a bonus disc of extra stuff, you'll have to send the man some money - did I mention there are only 100 copies? And no proper release planned? Once them 100 copies have gone that'll be it for the forseeable. 23 of your American bucks will purchase a copy for Americans, with the rest of the world having to send 20 pounds sterling in well-concealed envelopes.... please send to: Anton Barbeau po box 163857 Sacramento, CA 95816 USA Here's what he says about that bonus disc:" the bonus disk contains semi-instrumental mixes of "seeds of space" and "this is why they call me guru 7," plus a jangly-guitar dub of "mushroom box." there are a couple variations on "eric has gone wrong." on the proper album tthe track is not much more than an instrumental fade-out w/catholic boys' choir, but the bonus disk reveals verses and a chorus and all sorts of fancy mistakes. one fave of mine is the russian "eye" choir. this is simply the backing vocals of the last verse of "the eye on my hand." in the final mix these vocals are buried deep under drums and piano, but they stand up well on their own. the album took so much time to make and i for every guitar track that got kept, a thousand clarinets were thrown away. the bonus disk is under 30 minutes long but i could have made it go forever. i didn't want it to feel anything like a real record, as the final "village" disk still has a somewhat all-over-the-place-before- coming-home vibe as it is. i'm so curious what any/some/many of you will make of the album... it's certainly not like anything else i've done and i'm very happy with how it turned out. i loved making it and i'd always had a bonus disk in mind just to sort of show off the millions of streets almost walked down etc." I hope you'll all take advantage of this excellent offer! Strange that a Greek band sings in only English.... RAINING PLEASURE Flood:{coming of a}great quantity of water. Well, this certainly is going to warrant repeated listening, as I concur with Brian that they are a great find. Lots of nice vocals and synthesizers and even a killer version of "Femme Fatale". I would never have guessed they were Greek. Just started listening to the other one (Nostalgia). Thanks!!!! There is a song near the end of Flood (I can't remember the name) that sounds so much like a Neil Halstead: Slowdive, Soulvaki era song that it brings chills to my spine. Tanya was sleeping on the couch and when that song came on she awoke for just a second to say "that's a good song." Almost all solo RH is out of print! Are you talking disc rot here? Similar topic: anyone finding your oldier CDR's going to hell? A friend has a few 10+ year-old CDR's which've gone totally non-functional. I'm seeing some that just look weird, either sorta dusky or even transparent-ish. Can't be more than seven or eight years old, I figure. Gotta say that out of several thousand CDs, I think I've seen only one that's decayed even slightly. And it was still good enough for me to burn a backup copy. Then I don't leave my CDs on the dashboard of my car beneath a leaky container of battery acid. - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Jun 2006 22:44:51 -0500 From: 2fs Subject: Re: more than one raven On 6/22/06, grutness@slingshot.co.nz wrote: > > >I do believe it's an unkindness of ravens... > > Usually, although a storytelling of ravens and a conspiracy of ravens > are also sometimes referred to.
