Stan Getz is June artist on my jazz calendar at work. "Known outside of the jazz world for his "Girl From Impanema" and other work in the samba and bossa nova modes, Stan Getz may have made a fortune from pop music, but he was never afraid to take tremendous difficult and sometime arcane directions in his jazz playing". "Getz recorded prolifically, nearly always on the Verve label, and got into a number of interesting collaborative explorations beyond his Brazil-sound years, notable music partners include Bill Evans, Chick Corea and years later Kenny Barron. An early fifties Getz quartet introduced Horace Silver to the world, and Getz played to excellent effect with many of the decades finest musicians. Getz died at only 64, in 1991". Michael B. Torrent: 99734 Title: Robyn Hitchcock, American Syndicated Radio Shows, circa 1990s, Pre-FM Size: 156.15 MB Category: Singer/Songwriter Uploaded by: willb3d Description - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Robyn Hitchcock (sometimes with Deni Bonet) American Syndicated Radio Shows, circa 1990s Pre-FM CDs > HiFi VHS > CDR > EAC > flac level 6 In April 2006, Robyn Hitchcock and Hux Records released "This Is The BBC", a collection of BBC sessions Robyn and company did for Andy Kershaw and Mark Radcliffe in the 1990s. Robyn was also making the rounds of American radio stations back then, including some nationwide syndicated radio programs. This torrent is a collection of some unreleased performances from these American radio programs, sourced from Pre-FM discs (which were saved to HiFi vhs). One might think of this as a sort of American complement to the "This Is The BBC" album; "This Is The USA", if you will. 01 Intro (Spin Radio Network, 1992) 02 It's a Man's Life (On the Edge, 1993.11) 03 Ivy (Spin Radio Network 1992) 04 Arms of Love (Acoustic Cafe 1993) 05 Wreck of the Arthur Lee (MTV Left of the Dial, Spring 1993) 06 Egyptian Cream (Acoustic Cafe 1995.7) 07 Sinister (Acoustic Cafe 1995.7) 08 Yes I Do (Spin Radio Network 1992) 09 De Chirico Street (Acoustic Cafe 1995.7) Many syndicated radio shows used to be distributed to participating radio stations on compact disc. After the play date they were supposed to be returned or destroyed. CD ripping was not commonly available so to save the shows I recorded the discs to the HiFi stereo audio tracks of vhs video. Very good fidelity and accurate playback speed, but analog. My interest at the time was purely in the songs; I did not save the interviews. The songs are presented in a sequence that provides a good "flow", including a cute intro. Hard-core Robyn Hitchcock traders from the early days when discs were traded through the postal mail may already have this disc in their collections; the unreleased song "Ivy" was also widely traded as an mp3 via a Robyn Hitchcock fansite. The dates are somewhat vague since these shows were recorded live in studio days or weeks before airdate, and the airdates were somewhat flexible as well. Following is as much info as I know about each show, including whether there was an interview segment (which again, I did not save). The numbering system of the shows reflect the fact that several episodes of each program were often presented on the same disc (The disc for Spin Radio Network, for example, included episode 13 and episode 14). Source discs: Spin Radio Network #13 & 14 (1992) "Ivy", "Yes I Do" , Interview On The Edge, Westwood Radio Networks #93-48 (11/22/93 - Weekend of 11/27/93) "It's A Man's Life", "The Yip Song", Interview MTV 120 Minutes 'Left Of The Dial' #51-65 (Spring 1993, weeks 11, 12, 13) Profile, "Wreck of the Arthur Lee" (I believe Robyn also recorded "The Yip Song" and "Arms of Love" for the video version of this program) Acoustic Cafe, Ann arbor, MI #26 (Week of 7/10-7/16/95) "Arms of Love"(recorded in 1993), No interview Acoustic Cafe, Ann arbor, MI #27 (Week of 7/17-7/23/95) (Robyn H. & Lisa Bonet) "Egyptian Cream", Interview about reissues, "Sinister", Interview about Rhino's rehearsals, "De Chirico Street" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Jun 2006 13:34:56 +0100 From: hssmrg@bath.ac.uk Subject: Re: Tomorrow I'll see you after being alone quite some time Quoting fegmaniax-digest : > fegmaniax-digest Wednesday, June 14 2006 Volume 15 : Number 137 > Today's Subjects: > ----------------- > > Date: Tue, 13 Jun 2006 14:22:41 -0400 > From: wojbearpig > Subject: Re: Nineteen sixty eight > one time at band camp, hssmrg@bath.ac.uk (hssmrg@bath.ac.uk) said: >> * I totally agree with the 1968 people, and don't forget: > > i was released in 1968 too! ;) > woj * Big one in 2 years then, woj! And you get "Claramount Lake" on the CD nowadays. Fabulous guitar player called Steve Howe - he broke the group up to form a band called Bodast, then replaced Pete Banks in Yes. > > How do the rest of us get ahold of your "Cheese Alarm" mp3?
