We should give it a name, like uisge beatha, then just shorten it to "whisky" (with or without the e, as one would like based on local and traditional habits) and call it an evening ;-) Marc ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 May 2006 13:26:28 -0700 (PDT) From: Jeff Dwarf Subject: Reap Craig "Ironhead" Heyward "A severed foot is the ultimate stocking stuffer." -- Mitch Hedberg . Just a reaction to the longer, more intricate names that it seemed like every band coming out of Liverpool (which is a rival city to Manchester, I guess) had (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Teardrop Explodes, etc). So they went for a really simple name, like The Smiths would do a couple weeks later. "A severed foot is the ultimate stocking stuffer." -- Mitch Hedberg . Tired of spam? Yahoo! I'm more or less the same. The Smiths' songs are very good, and I have one album of theirs that is great I would not part with (Hatful of Hollow). But Morrissey's voice and range I find annoying to say the least. His desert-dry wit always feels like a pose to me, too - as compared to, say, the similarly dry wit of Cohen, which feels legit. >Let it be hereby known, the first known instance of one feg >performing the marriage ceremony for another feg has taken place. >Our own dear Nuppy was married off this afternoon, by me, to the >lovely Tanya. Sure, Ezra is a biblical name but just having the name when it's a common name shouldn't be enough, should it? I'd kick out David and Jonathan for that reason as well. I mean, what's next--Jesus Jones? However, MC 900 FT Jesus should count (inspired by an Oral Roberts vision of Jesus that supposedly told him he needed to raise a few million bucks). At the end of the day, this list hardly counts for anything official. I mean, if one wants to count ABBA because it happens to coincide with a Hebrew word, who are we to say no? On the side of inclusion, how about Calvary, Golgotha, Nazareth, > > Not so sure... I mean, you can add Jack, since it's a nickname for "John," > which is a book of the Bible. The only one I can think of is Stryper, and I'm pretty sure they got their name from the Bible somehow.
