He was 81. Knotts, who lived in West Los Angeles, died Friday night of lung cancer at a Los Angeles hospital, according to Sherwin Bash, his longtime manager. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-donknotts-obit,0,6517299 .story?coll=la-home-headlines mike ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Feb 2006 06:30:10 -0500 From: "marc.h@cox.net" Subject: RE: fegmaniax-digest V15 #47 To:fegmaniax@smoe.org, RobynHitchcockClub@yahoogroups.com CC: BCC: Subject:Key Club, 2/25/06 Just got back from the last night of my segment of the Hitchcock/Minus 5 tour. A really cool night overall. We planned to get a table at the Key Club and have dinner there, only to find you couldn't even see the stage from our seats. We decided to eat elsewhere and stand in the general floor room for the show. We thought the Thai place nextdoor looked like it was worth a try, and we wound up getting seated next to most of the members of the Minus 5. The tables were a bit close together, and Peter Buck wound up moving things around a bit, telling my friend Greg that "anyone wearing a Soft Boys shirt is welcome to sit here." Dinner was great, and we held off from doing the whole fan-geek ackward gawking bit. Still, as they were getting ready to leave, Scott stopped to ask, "Weren't you guys there last night?", and they stayed and talked a couple of minutes. Really, really nice guys. Peter recommends ordering the Hidden Treasure if we go back again. We missed almost the entire set from the local opener, and the Minus 5 put on their usual great set (a bit of overlap from the first two nights, plus some fresher material, including a nice cover of Strychnine). We wound up being close enough that I noticed that Scott's gold-top Les Paul was signed by Roky Erickson--he later confirmed that Roky and Jimmy Page both had signed it. Robyn started off solo acoustic again (floral shirt with gray shoulders) Cynthia Mask Neitzche's Way (enter Grant Lee Phillips) I Feel Beautiful Trams of Old London (add Scott & Bill--"Our first George Harrison tune of the evening...") Long Long Long (Harrison/Beatles) (exit Grant, enter Peter, Robyn switches to Telecaster) Acid Bird Chinese Bones Ole Tarantula Somewhere Apart Bird's Head Flesh #1 (Beatle Dennis) If You Were a Priest Sally Was a Legend Adventure Rocketship Beautiful Queen Driving Aloud (Radio Storm) encore w/Minus 5 Cigarettes, Coffee, & Booze (add Grant) Beware of Darkness (G. Harrison) I Wanna Destroy You 2nd encore Eight Miles High (Byrds) Queen of Eyes Man, three great nights in a row. I wish I was able to head north and catch a few more shows, but the mortgage isn't going to pay itself, so I'd better make it back to work Monday. If you get a chance to see Robyn/Minus 5 in the next week or so, don't miss them. These are some of the best Hitchcock shows I've seen. Ronco has conquered late nght tv. Anyway, great show that used to creep out the young kid that was watching it which was me then. Especially the sewer monster-thingie. My ongoing cleaning has produced four or five of those wood-frame cassette holders (they store ~60 cassettes each). I honestly don't know anyone who uses these anymore, and they were somewhat difficult to find a few years ago.that's all by way of saying if anyone here wants them, they're yours for the price of shipping. I'm not sure, but I think that one's being released direct-to-landfill (the industry's latest marketing concept, eliminating both sellers and buyers). - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Feb 2006 15:41:19 -0800 (PST) From: Jeff Dwarf Subject: Re: Abe James Dignan wrote: > >Abe Vigoda is not dead today, his 85th birthday.
