Very good film. Reminded me of >"Magnolia," minus the self-conscious artiness. Eb's review prompted me to rent "Crash" last night and watch it. Very much "Magnolia" like. "Crash" had the cross theme in the background in numerous scenes, "Magnolia" had the bible quote. "Crash" had the ash wafting all around from the fire, "Magnolia" had the frogs. "Crash" was more tidy and didn't hit the 3 hour mark like I really liked Mark Isham's haunting score in "Crash". MINUS the self-conscious artiness?!? Dear lord. I think the filmmakers would have built an underground studio if they thought it would make the film appear to have more depth (which it utterly lacked). I've met maybe one or two people in my entire life that were *almost* as racist as the average person in that movie. What the fuck was that all about? So much melodramatic claptrap. I have no idea what people saw in this movie unless maybe you think long, meaningless shots accompanied by Crow T. Robot's new age music are supposed to evoke some kind of thought or feeling. For me, they're just one long fucking note. Robot" reference in this post kinda tipped your hand, as far as film orientation goes.
