I saw them three times...opening for the Alarm at a large outdoor amphitheater, headlining a rather gothic indoor place at the time of their debut album and playing for free on the Santa Monica Pier. I recall being surprised to see George "Norm" Wendt in the audience at the latter. I also remember House of Freaks as the one and only artist whose car I have jumpstarted (this happened on the night of the Alarm gig). The bass playing is still fantastic, but the songs sound even more nerdy and whiny than they used to. Perhaps, as Michael suggests, it's my age rather than the songs' that's the problem. > > Anyone else willing to admit to liking something abominable last year? They're pretty much unlistenable. Yet I keep listening. Their leader, Friendly Rich, used to do the music for the Tom Green Show. Yes, it's that bad. Oh, and singing along to ELO. cheers, Stewart ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V15 #4 ******************************
