Hate them. I don't sleep for days afterwards and I am afraid to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom after I've seen something creepy. But, man, I was completely addicted to Twin Peaks (until it got moronic in the second season), but Bob terrified me, especially when he would show up in the mirror and all. Just thinking about it is giving me goosebumps (was the actor who played Laura's father named Ray Nance? that name just popped into my head). All right, I'd better pee three times before I go to bed. That's right. So obviously, the two of them were created by cloning Ray Nance from Duke Ellington's band. Now who's Jack Wise? Also: season 2 of TP didn't suck. Nearly all segments involving James, however, did - as did much of the Miss Twin Peaks thing. But I rather liked the whole Wyndom Earle plot, as well as the Major character...played by the guy who went on to host MTV's _120 Minutes_ for several years, no shit! Me, I like to settle down each Halloween with Guccione's unrated "Caligula." In addition to the sadistic violence, explicit sex and general depravedness, it features a completely normal Peter O'Toole. Nothing warms me up for the holiday season quite like this film. I've been in a room where people have got up and left during "Eraserhead," but I don't think it was because they were scared. The Major in Twin Peaks had one of my favorite lines in all of TV history -- when someone asks him, "What are you afraid of," he replies, "That love will not be enough." He was also one of my favorite minor characters on the show. I loved the way he was cast as a military man who was also an intellectual. Oh, and as far as "Seven" being a horror movie or not...? The question of "What is a horror movie" is really too open for any consensus. As far as "Seven" goes -- it's scary, it's creepy, it's about a human monster, so I listed it as a horror movie. It's also a thriller, a crime movie, a postmodern deconstruction of film-noir detective fiction, etc. - --Quail ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Nov 2005 11:36:18 EST From: HSatterfld@aol.com Subject: Kudos to Stickfigure Records in Atlanta I thought I would mention this because it impressed me so much. They took a guy who was nearly a joke when he was first introduced (and could easily have been made into one) and made him into a character with quite a lot of depth and complexity. Had there been a third season, I imagine he could have played a large role in it. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Nov 2005 20:52:34 -0500 From: wojizzle forizzle Subject: auditorium update i'm sure y'all have seen this already but just in case anyone missed it.... from : Live in London On November 22 Robyn and Scott McCaughey will be performing as a duo billed as Red Locust Frenzy, opening for Jeff Tweedy of Wilco in London at Shepherd Bush Empire.
