Take a moment and pity him won't you? Won't you? I am tired of Eb's frequent postings demanding more interesting content. If you dont like the content posted then post something interesting. - -Nora, back in the country finally ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Aug 2005 22:03:54 -0400 (EDT) From: Jill Brand Subject: Ogdens thingy I don't fret much over the title, but the Boston Rock Opera did this whacked out staging of Happiness Stan a bunch of years ago. It was very very very good. My kids think that this is standard music in all households. And Eb does *not* post about his running all the time on the list. But let's face it, folks, everyone can post whatever s/he wants here, and although not everyone is interested in everything, it's better than a hyper "juried" list like the Kinks list, on which every post gets the fine-tooth(ed) comb treatment for bad language, irrelevance, and possible criticism of the band. It's gotten to the point, since the Kinks aren't exactly doing a lot these days either as a group or independently, that the only thing that people are posting is that they heard Lola in K-Mart. I'm going to use My Wife and My Dead Wife in the language lab with my foreign students tomorrow. Can we tell that it is the last week of the term? I see your point about the Kinks list, and the digest format is a bit difficult to deal with, but I wouldn't call it *hyper*-juried. As far as that goes, Neil Ottenstein is no match for the ladies of Macca-L (or at least the ladies of Macca-L circa 1998. Who knows what it's like over there now). ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Aug 2005 00:48:04 -0700 From: "Marc Holden" Subject: road trip >> STRYPER IS REBORN >No NorCal dates? If you're up for the road trip, you could crash out here. You'd have to go to the show alone, but I'd be more than willing to drink too many beers with you afterward. I also have Pie, if that helps--it just arrived fresh and tasty last week. (Serious about the beer and Obliteration Pie parts, at least) btw--Has anyone heard the new Fruit Bats CD, Spelled in Bones? I've been playing the shit out of it this week. It knocked the band Marshmallow out of heavy rotation on the stereo by my computer. Any opinions about their first two CDs? Later, Marc If I ever get real rich, I hope I'm not real mean to poor people, like I am now. The two versions I speak of are the album version and the alternate vocals version from Spectre. I did three versions. Version One is a mono comp of Album Version on the Left side of the stereo signal, and a mono comp of Alternate Vocals on the Right Side of the stereo signal. Version Two is just the Left side of the Album version and the Right side of the Alternate Vocals. And Version Three is the reverse of V2. It syncs up pretty well. Probably a few milliseconds off in some parts, but I didn't attempt to clean it up. For the most part, the chorus matches, but the verses are very different. I like it. It sounds a little disorienting at times, kinda like Lou Reeds' "The Murder Mystery". - -griffith Tired of spam? Yahoo! I have been holding out on ordering the original released cd versions in hopes that we would see remastered versions released. That day has happened and they just got released recently in double disc versions. I just ordered mine. I haven't heard it yet (or the indie-indie debut), but I sure liked Mouthfuls. I believe they lost a female member between albums, so I assume the new album is accordingly affected. On the off-chance that any of those folks don't know about this, here's a bit from Barbeau's most recent mailing: - ---------- Forwarded message ---------- as i've been ranting to my wee cutesy myspace space, the loud family/ant record is pretty muchly finished and sounds fantastic. we wrapped up the sessions with a cover of cat steven's "i think i see the light" which turned out. yep, i say again, it turned out! it's a fine record we done made and i'm excited to be in stereo all proper with scott miller. - -------------------------------- The album will be billed (most likely) to The Loud Family and Anton Barbeau, or The Loud Family with Anton Barbeau, or something like that. No release date set as yet - but Little Birds have told me they hope by the end of the year. (I, of course, will fail to buy it in protest of Barbeau's rampant apostrophe misuse in the possessive of Cat Stevens' name...) - -- ...Jeff The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V14 #198 ********************************
