Not that it's on the same par, but I *did* just get back from seeing DEVO polish off Music Midtown. They were complete with the hats, suits, and Booji Boy. A very odd show, but tight as Hell, which was a bit surprising as they only play a handful of gigs a year. That made two bands that I saw this weekend that I had given up on: Them and The Pixies (who rawwwwked in the rain). - -f. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Jun 2005 13:36:05 +1000 (EST) From: Stony Subject: Live8/Pink Floyd reunion I have no words to express how ecstatic I am about the news. As a fan and collector of all things Floydian, from Syd to Waters and Gilmour, solo works and PF MachII, this is surely a dream come true. If Sir Bob can accomplish this, maybe he could scare Syd out of hiding. Sure would make for an interesting rendition of Astronomy Domine. Any fegs planning on making the Philly show? Just f**kin incredible. I never thought I'd see the day. Bob Geldof is now in contention for sainthood in my book. Let's just hope competing egos don't screw up the whole deal...... And given how his life has gone for most of the past 35 years.... Let Syd stay in everyone's memory and let Roger live his life to the best of his ability. Roky Erickson is one thing - -- he's managed to function as an artist to one extent or another throughout his illness. Syd couldn't and there is no real reason to try to coerce him to come out (unless it's his idea, of course). "I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it." -- Mitch Hedberg .
