Can't one view an attractive person as a human being AND an object, simultaneously? (My answer: yes I can.) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 May 2005 15:41:39 EDT From: BLATZMAN@aol.com Subject: SPOILER ALERT: The Dark Tower Since I can't stand it when we all talk about the merits of driving, I had a question... I KNOW there has to be one or two Dark Tower fans here.. I just finished the series and I'm a bit sick about the entire affair. I don't want to spoil the story for anyone, but I'd rather talk about this than my big fat gas guzzling SUV... I have many issues with the book, but for now I'd like to concentrate on 2 that have to deal with logic flaws. First, if the Dark Tower is some higher being (or at least controlled by one), then why does the Dark Tower itself start Roland on his quest all over again, which in essence places the Dark Tower in peril again. It's as if the Dark Tower was saved, and then it decided to put it's very existence in jeopardy willingly. I don't buy it. That's a crap out. The entire ending just seems flawed from this perspective And then there is Patrick... why didn't he draw Roland some fingers... or himself a tongue... or Susannah some legs? Is this just another gaping logic flaw that the author wants us to look the other way about? After reading this book, I was reminded of the time I sat in a theater watching some idiotic Star Wars Prequel, and R2D2 began to fly. I thought "uh, you can't do that! That's changing the rules of existence" But hey, John Williams was there with a big music sting to cover up the absurdity... I feel that way all over again. Steven King has changed the rules of his universe, but there is no stinger to cover it up... To me, it's just obvious that he never had an ending... Harry Potter is so good cause JK knows what she's doing and where she's going. By King never knowing where he was going, it just got away from him and he had no idea how to end it. I hope I don't spoil this for anybody. If anyone cares to reply, maybe you should alert people that your emial will contain spoilers... By the way, I had the best weekend... My family and I drove all over the place and just enjoyed the days so so much. We drove many glorious miles to the beach on Saturday, and had so much fun we drove there again on Sunday. We even rode in our big fat SUV cause it's much more comfortable than my fuel efficient car! Magnificent! Joy to all! The problem there isn't lust (which is what "objectification" really is when push comes to shove) though, it's that the guys in question are assholes. The same guys are assholes to other men. And to the women they don't want to see naked. And most likely to dogs, cats, and various species of fish. It's just that their asshol-ish behavior towards women they want to see naked is of a sexual nature. "I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it." -- Mitch Hedberg . Yahoo! These highly placed sources confirmed late Friday it has been renewed for a full season of 22 episodes. How freaking fantastic is that? Initially, Fox president Peter Liguori's plan was to order two seasons--hence, the "twins" reference--in order to keep the licensing fee down. But ultimately he went with a single season. And hey, I'll take it. "I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it." -- Mitch Hedberg . Discover Yahoo! Have fun online with music videos, cool games, IM and more.
