Full Moon In My Soul Viva! Sea-Tac - -- he called it his least favorite song and the next one his favorite, though he hadn't played it in a while... The Ghost In You (Psychedelic Furs) Nietzsche's Way Beautiful Girl - -- dedicated to Kelly Hogan, not because it was about her, but because he played it a lot 15 years ago when The Jody Grind were opening for him, and seeing her reminded him of that. Waterloo Sunset (Kinks) - -- concluding with "Waterloo sunset's fine, Waterloo sunset's fine, Waterloo sunset's fine, Arnold Layne, don't do it again!" this drew a cheer of "More Syd!" Robyn said, "hmmm... more Syd... forceps..." and then... Robyn was much clearer of countenance, voice, and guitar-fingers. I stuck around to say "thank you for the extra gig, it was awesome!" He said, "it *was* good, wasn't it? Good fun, good harmonies..." Hmmmmmm.... I don't think that's it. I can't pretend to speak for Catholics as a whole by any means, or even Catholics for myself, since I'm not one, but this doesn't seem like what these sorts of prayers are about at all. I think Eb is partially correct, even if his particular interpretation is probably the least generous and sarcastic one I could imagine (yes, I did see the emoticon--I'm pointing out there is a grain of truth in that, since they are praying in part for a peaceful repose for the Pope's soul), but the other part really doesn't seem to me to be about praying he stay alive. It is rather that they are praying to deal with their own grief at their loss. This was expressed in one interview I saw on this where the gal with tearstained cheeks was saying "He was a wonderful guide. We have no guide now, there's no longer his voice, or his presence." But what do I know? I just said the Kaddish and left it at that.
