Has anyone seen Beyond The Sea yet? no, but I have heard him song - the 9/11 Lennon concert - he performs "Mind Games", and holds his own in fairly distinguished company well (and is better than some of the recognised acts). I've also heard him do the old song "That old black magic". More than just passable, in a sort of lounge-y way (how else could you do that song?). Oh, and I am now owned again! It's getting hard to admire Phillipps. I like his music (and the new EP, I thought, promised good things for the future if he keeps at it) but what little I see of his personality suggests that he's both hard to get along with and so optimistic about future successes that he barely notices if something is screwed up, personally or professionally. After he got busted for shoplifting, he sent mail to the Chills announcement list apologizing briefly to anyone he'd hurt-- and then going on for pages and pages about the same in-the-works projects he's been touting since his mailing list appeared several years ago. I try not to judge folks I've never met who live half a world away and, as Phillipps complains, already get more scrutiny than they might have wanted. But he asks so devoutly for his fans to invest themselves in him as a person, it's hard not to feel that one has the right to. I do feel bad for the guy, though. a ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Jan 2005 18:17:58 -0500 From: "randi l. spiegel" Subject: bittorent/firewall question Hi, I am trying to figure out how to get out from behind my firewall so I can upload faster to easytree. It would be easier if we knew what kind of firewall you have. Also, we might be able to tell if your ISP has you behind a NAT'd firewall if you told us the first three octets of your IP address (that would be the W, X, and Y parts of your W.X.Y.Z where each letter is a number from 0-255).
