It's all the scratched out stuff that concerns me. It makes me wonder how many iterations the mother went through before they made the master, and why it went through so many iterations. My advice is to go out and get another one, frame the one you have for a decoration or send it to Michael Bachman as a push for him to fix turntable. - -Nuppy ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Nov 2004 22:31:25 -0500 From: bisontentacle Subject: Re: pop culture press one time at band camp, Miles Goosens said: >On Mon, 22 Nov 2004 18:18:00 -0500, bisontentacle wrote: > > ja, ein ander (anderer?) james. > >There are no others. Serenity, the Firefly movie, has had its release date pushed back to September. Joss: "Are you guys starting to hear that fanfare? Those distant drums? Are you slapping on your side-arms, pulling on your long brownish-colored coats and thumbing your crisp new bills in anticipation of the cinematic event of the year? Well, it's official: on April 22nd you, the true the blue the loyal, can step right up with the rest of America and WAIT FIVE MORE MONTHS. Heh. See, sometimes studios shuffle around release dates... Okay. Don't panic. right now you're panicking. you're thinking, "how could they do this to me?" But what you SHOULD be thinking is: "How could they do this to JOSS?". Seriously. That pity is mine and I want it back. So what happened? Well, nothing terribly original. April got crowded with a lot of titles aimed at a similar demographic, and the studio decided September was a clearer corridor for the film to make the kind of impact it should. This isn't about a lack of confidence in the film -- in fact, they told me this before they even saw it. And now they have seen it, and unless they're way better liars than I'm used to, they dug it. Actually, they dug it pretty large, which is a good sign since there's not a single finished effect in the film. There's no reworking the end, no reshoots, no "does it have to be in space?". It's just a marketing issue. Now you'll get to watch lots of trailers in the summer. And hopefully, by the time it comes out, other people, people who ain't us, will get a whiff of what we're up to, and come along too. I love this movie. I HATE waiting to show it too you. I felt pretty much the way I imagine you're feeling right now when they told me. But these guys know what they're doing, and they're trying to protect their investment, not bury it. So I gotta be a grown-up. The release date is September 30th. Hopefully it won't change again. Spread the word. Keep the faith. And gleam the damn cube already. - -j." - --CHRIS "I don't get the cube reference" THE CHRISTER ______________________________________________________________________ Christopher Gross On the Internet, nobody knows I'm a dog. chrisg@gwu.edu ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Nov 2004 02:59:18 -0500 From: "Lauren" Subject: Re: first Robyn gig bandwagon Hello Fegmaniax, Well, I managed to finally get the nerve to introduce myself to a Feg - a Mr. Max Lang - at the Philadelphia show last week, so I figured I may as well take the plunge and say hello to everyone on the list. I have been on the announcement list for some time, and have very much enjoyed reading the archives of the regular list from time to time. But I am true to my unachiever tendencies, and maintain a proper distance, what with all the proper grammar and interesting thoughts around this list. Here is my personal Robyn-in-a-box: I received a copy of 'Element of Light' the only time I donated to Philadelphia's WXPN (I suspect said donation contributed to the demise of my beloved "Yesterday's Now Music To-Day" radio show...) I chose the album only because I had not heard of Robyn, and that held more promise than the other four albums by artists I had heard of which were being offered. I liked the album, but the blow was a show at City Gardens in Trenton, NJ. It was pretty easy to pinpoint the date - 2 April 1988 - since it looks like he only ever played City Gardens once. And since then I've been a starry-eyed gal at shows and at home and driving, I'm grateful to have been kept company by this wonderful English gentleman who seems to never fail to entertain and challenge me...and sometimes even seem to save me. I will likely remain pretty much in the shadows around here... But...thank you for being here... xo, Lauren P.S. I have noticed a few Elliott Smith fans around here; add me. He and Robyn account for about 90% of what's going on my stereo as of late (i.e. the last two years). Some of my other music loves are (in no particular order): Beatles, Magazine, The Fall, Public Image, Tori Amos, The Magnetic Fields, Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann, Dylan, Leonard Cohen. And WPRB, Princeton, NJ. ------------------------------ End of fegmaniax-digest V13 #335 ********************************
