This was the first time I ever had to wait in line to vote (about 15 minutes). It's not listed in federal law, but most states have some sort of "electioneering within X feet" statutes which are used to prohibit sample ballots. In my county, for example, the limit is 300 feet, but the polling place is defined only by where the ballot boxes actually are, so if they are deep in the bowels of a school, the front driveway may be outside the 300 foot limit. But once again, election laws are, for the most part, state laws and not federal laws. I'm not a huge fan of the federal government, but I would support a Constitutional amendment to federalize elections, including even local elections, because ultimately the sanctity of the ballot box is a 14th Amendment issue.
