Sin-e's website is pokerfaced-- "A VERY SPECIAL GUEST" is all it says. And, unbelievably, the price is listed at $8, which would make this easily the cheapest RH show I've ever attended. For those taking down names for later prosecution, SPOOKED has grown on me exponentially with each listen, and now I fucking love it. However, in the eating of partial crow dept., with the passage of time my advocacy of LUXOR has modulated to only include The Sound Of Sound, You Remind Me Of You, Idonia, Keep Finding Me and the two instrumentals. That would be like spitting on my grandmother's grave. Being a Yankees fan is like being a Rolling Stones fan. Being a Red Sox fan is a quirky kind of illness. The more pain they bring, the more tickets they sell. I firmly believe that they will screw up this 2-0 lead over the Cardinals somehow. If they don't, I don't think most of Boston will know how to deal with it. We're so used to bad news in October (and often before) that good news will make us lose our identity. Kafka wrote a short story (I read this a long time ago, so please forgive any incorrectness) about a man who everyday visits the man in prison who killed his wife in order to taunt him. When the prisoner dies, the man no longer finds a purpose in his life and so he dies (or kills himself). Red Sox fans are in this rut as well. Boston defines itself by the Red Sox, and I've lived here for 23 years now, so I guess I've taken to doing the same. The Patriots (they are another Boston area team, lest Bostonians forget) set another record yesterday by winning their 18th regular season game in a row. They have now won (ooh, that's a palindrome) 21 games straight. They knocked off their division rival yesterday. Were they on the front page of the Boston Globe? No, Curt Schilling was. Quail (hi Quail) once said that he gets a feeling of community by going to big U2 concerts. I get the same feeling at Red Sox games. But I DO hate the whole "Yankees suck" thing. Clearly they don't suck. We might hate their guts, but they don't suck. Sorry about all the sports. Right now, I'm in major denial about the possibility of another four years of White House ineptitude, so I let sports divert me from depression. I still don't have Spooked.
