Nothing optional. It's all or nothing. I wish it were, since I've heard that the clock running on it uses more battery life than it should. I think there are more than a few artists who had their biggest sales during that time with albums which are now harder to find than their earlier, then-obscure-but-since-lavishly reissued records. Yeah, when I read those messages I didn't have access to eBay to see what prices people were "oooh"ing over, and I was thinking "yeah, I can cash in my Feelies CDs for a c-note or more! Then I can buy 'em again for $10-12 each when the inevitable reissues come along." (Rex, how about "The Inevitable Reissues" as a band name?) Then I got home and searched the "closed" auctions and wondered why people were so worked up. I mean, I'd have to see one of my CDs going for $40 or up before I'd start thinking that it was a comment-worthy price. $25 or so isn't bad for an out-of-print-underground-classic-type-thing, especially considering that an in-print European import could run you just as much with tax and/or shipping and handling. >A copy of the Wrens' lost masterpiece Secaucus recently sold for a cool >$59.... Believe it or not, I sold my limited edition of THE MEADOWLANDS for $71. I thought I'd get $20 tops. I could take that $71, buy eight used copies of the regular edition, and still have money left over for dinner. That's not a probable course of what I'll do with the proceeds (several dinners is more like how it'll get used), but you see what I am saying here, yes? later, Miles ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Sep 2004 13:10:12 -0700 From: Vendren Subject: Re: Because Pearl Jam was actually the next U2 > Michael B: > >> What is the largest seller of Robyn's career? And "Driving Aloud (Radio Storm)" was at least as much a college radio hit as "Balloon Man" and "Madonna Of The Wasp." "Respect" also seems really easy to find in used CD stores, which may mean that more people than the Robyn die-hards picked it up.
