My memory of things, which is admittedly fuzzy, is that The Y Records Years just consists of the first disc of Natural History, and then a second disc which fills in *all* the gaps in Tench and Care, with a few b-sides and things thrown in. I am positive that as of a few years ago, I had all the tracks from Care on in-print CDs. When Carl Marsh left, the band changed a lot. I like parts of Big Night Music and (fewer) parts of Sacred City, but my feeling has largely been that Barry Andrews wanted to become a goth icon for people who thought Neil Gaiman was too intellectual. a ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Sep 2004 14:52:09 -0500 (GMT-05:00) From: Miles Goosens Subject: Re: Shriekback, RobynSynth >When Carl Marsh left, the band changed a lot. There's something about BIG NIGHT MUSIC that's a bit more... sedate isn't the right word, maybe "subdued" is it. No giant rocking stuff like "Nemesis" or "New Home," but it makes up for it with subtlety and nuance. And as you know from Marsh's TOO MUCH FUN and Happyhead, there's not a significant difference between Marsh's solo stuff and the direction Shriekback went on GO BANG! later, Miles ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Sep 2004 18:42:13 -0400 (EDT) From: Aaron Mandel Subject: Re: Shriekback, RobynSynth On Sat, 11 Sep 2004, Miles Goosens wrote: > And as you know from Marsh's TOO MUCH FUN and Happyhead, there's not a > significant difference between Marsh's solo stuff and the direction > Shriekback went on GO BANG! I disagree. It shows that the difference doesn't break down to "Marsh abrasive, Andrews accessible", but I still think the two are very different. It's hard for me to imagine Carl Marsh doing a lullaby, and this isn't because I like or dislike lullabies. a ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Sep 2004 12:30:23 -0500 From: "Michael Wells" Subject: reap Ernie Ball has broken his last string at 74. President Bush said the other day, 'It is a ridiculous notion to assert that because the United States is on the offensive, more people want to hurt us. We are on the offensive because people do want to hurt us.' I mean that is a perfect 'Bushworld' quote. It's not true and it's nonsensical. It's the opposite of what is true.
