All I know about him was culled from a documentary which was on TV last year, in which he came across as self-obsessed, spoilt and generally screwed up. In particular, he appeared to be unwilling to "pay his dues", and a few good 60-date tours might have sorted him out a bit. And on the whole I don't have time for LZ or anything related to them. He obviously had a very bad relationship with Tim, who was well-known for being a screwed-up junkie, so (as P F Sloan didn't say) the sins of the family fall on the son. The weirdest thing about it, though, was that all the time he was slagging off Tim, the sound of his voice, and that loony free-form approach to singing, were startlingly reincarnatory, if that's a word. So from an hour of exposure, I certainly didn't care for him or his stuff. But if the great Gary Lucas rated him, he must have had something. - - Mike Godwin n.p. Recently moved to Chicago (well, Evanston, actually), and was like YEAH!, I finally live in a city that Robyn plays in, not a 10 hour drive from. Anyhoo, I got tixs for the Milwaukee gig, thinking I'd do a "double-tap", seeing hime twice in as many days. But alas, no Chicago gigs yet. Is there any info on a Chicago gig, or is the tour bypassing this fine town? Also, since my fiancee and I are already going to Milwaukee come hell or highwater, we'll most likely have two extra spots in the car. E-mail me off list if interested, but be aware that we're cranky late night travelers, and will most likely spend the night before returning home.
