Apparently, there were complaints from parents about all the weird people allegedly menacing their little kids by existing, and the next day the park manager's were talking about how they just didn't think they would book him again. Naturally, he played there again in 1992. ===== "'Bushworld' is sort of an alternate universe where things are the opposite of what they seem. Jon Lewis ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Aug 2004 00:09:53 -0400 From: Steve Talkowski Subject: RNC Protest Pictures So, I decided to go and participate/document the protest this afternoon. Of course, this weekend was the hottest it's been all summer and I survived for about 3 1/2 hours at Union Square. The following link is what I witnessed: http://idisk.mac.com/stevetalkowski/Public/RNC_Protest/index.html I'm trying out this cool flash-based weblog thingy, so give it a second to load up, then click on the meticulously edited thumbnails (or, advance with the arrow on the lower right-hand portion of the image) to see the results. It was a fairly peaceful demonstration. I heard there was a small fire started near Madison Square garden (someone igniting a paper mache figure) and only around 134 arrests. I got to see and listen to Jesse Jackson at the north end of Union Sq Park. Did I mention it was fucking HOT out there too? I work 2 blocks away from the Garden and it will be an interesting morning commute from the East Village tomorrow. Fortunately, the 34th St Herald Square subway (my stop) was spared from the "suspected bomb terrorists". I have a letter confirming that I work on 35th St & 7th Ave and will also have to present my ID to whomever is posted on that corner. I'll have my camera with me throughout the week to document and record the events, and I'll post anything interesting throughout the week. - -Steve ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Aug 2004 00:14:02 -0400 From: fingerpuppets Subject: Fwd: [bt-easytree-org] NEW on EZT: Robyn Hitchcock 1994-10-04 Seattle - Soundcheck - DSBD >To: bt-easytree-org >From: EZT (bt.easytree.org) >Date: Mon, 30 Aug 2004 03:56:54 +0200 (CEST) >Subject: [bt-easytree-org] NEW on EZT: Robyn Hitchcock 1994-10-04 Seattle >- Soundcheck - DSBD > > >A new torrent has been uploaded to EZT. > >Title: Robyn Hitchcock 1994-10-04 Seattle - Soundcheck - DSBD >Size: 148.46 MB >Category: Singer/Songwriter >Uploaded by: rh60 > >Description >------------------------------------------------------------------------------- >Robyn Hitchcock >October 4, 1994 >Crocodile Cafe Seattle, WA >Viva Seatak Benefit Show >Sound Check > >Note: for completests only; songs are mostly partial/incomplete. > >SBD->DAT-> PC (Sony PCM R500 into LynxONE digital I/O card) -> SHN (148MB) >DAT obtained in trade in May 1995, converted to SHN by TN August 2004. > >Sound Forge info: Sound Forge Studio 6.0d (build 219) >CDWave info: version 1.71, build 0000.0A28 >Resampled from 48kHz to 44.1 kHz via Sound Forge. >Normalized to 0 dB via Sound Forge. >cdwave used for track splits. > >Running Time: 27:10 > >1. I'd love to have some of those signs. The big globe reminded me of something I saw at the Rose Parade in San Antonio back when I was in the 6th or 7th grade. I don't know if it was the U.S. Air Force or a contractor, but there was a float with a globe of about the same size, although not as nice. It rotated, and every few feet it would shoot out little ICBMs into the crowds on both sides of the street, where people would scramble to catch one as a memento. I guess it was a sort of Strangelove moment. - - Steve __________ The Bushies hail pre-emption as a brilliant innovation by The Man, except when they're downplaying it as nothing new to worry about. - Michael Kinsley ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Aug 2004 11:00:27 +0100 From: "craigie*" Subject: Re: REAP, thankyouverymuch > On Sun, Aug 29, 2004, Jeff Dwarf wrote: > > > > Being dead has never stopped Tupac. > > Or L. I am so thankful that I live in Brooklyn and work at the very bottom tip of Manhattan. Except for fucked up subway service at time from what I assume will be "terror" threats and "suspicious packages", ala slightly post-Sept. 11, I shouldn't have to see any of this. - -Ken ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Nov 2004 21:33:58 -0600 From: "Michael Wells" Subject: robyn in Pittsburgh... ...but not in Chicago - yet. http://www.ticketmaster.com/artist/735282/ At least a tour path's coming together now: 11/5 Milwaukee ... 11/9 Pittsburgh ... 11/14 Hoboken Hint: the Abbey Pub isn't showing anyone playing on 11/6 yet, if anyone's listening (although "Betsy and the Boneshakers" are there on 11/2).
