This reminds me of a rally I attended when George W. Bush was in town in January of 2002. A recently returned soldier gave a fantastic little speech wherein he described the oath he took when he joined the armed forces to "defend the Constitution of the United States of America from all enemies, foreign and domestic" and how he interpreted that to mean George W. Bush and his lot. He decided that it would not be treason for the armed forces to depose Bush. > I'll let you look up the lyrics for yourself; try imagining it with a > different accompanying video, where a bouncer literally kicks Bush out > onto the White House lawn on the line "We'll put a boot in your ass, > it's the American way..." As any fan of Phil Ochs will remember, he had quite a strong little ditty about the "boot in the ass" school of American foreign policy: Here's a kick in the ass, boys Here's a kick in the ass We'll smash down your doors, we don't bother to knock We've done it before, so why all the shock? We're the biggest and toughest kids on the block 'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys We're the Cops of the World I've been thinking that we need a bit of airplay for Mr. Ochs again. His songs are still relevant. We own half the world, oh say can you see The name for our profits is democracy So, like it or not, you will have to be free 'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys We're the Cops of the World Be Seeing you, - - c ps: I leave Italy in a week. After 3 years here it's going to be quite a change to be back in the States. I'll be in the greater Bay Area for around 3 weeks so if there is any lunch plans for bay area fegs - count me in! Late September am headed to Romania for a year. Don't think there will be many Romanian fegs but will try to convert a few! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Aug 2004 11:16:56 -0400 (EDT) From: Christopher Gross Subject: reap Cooking expert and former OSS agent Julia Childs, 91. - --Chris ______________________________________________________________________ Christopher Gross On the Internet, nobody knows I'm a dog. chrisg@gwu.edu ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Aug 2004 12:12:50 -0400 From: fingerpuppets Subject: Robyn On Word CD - ----- Forwarded message from Tulloch ----- To: VegetableFriends@yahoogroups.com From: "Tulloch" Date: Fri, 13 Aug 2004 14:48:15 -0000 Subject: [VegFriends] Robyn On Word CD The new issue of Word magazine (UK) has a free CD which features 'If You Know Time' as an exclusive taster from the forthcoming Spooked.
